DWR needs to be clean to work. If you're not getting water beading off the jacket, try ununder a tap in the sink, it might need a cleaning. Adding a bit of heat to refresh the DWR can work as well. For chemical refreshing I'd avoid nikwax. Using a more similar treatment to the original synthetic DWR would be better in my mind and I've been told that it doesn't rinse out as well as others. I've used Grangers spray on with OK results on DWR reproofing nylon and polyester. I think Arteryx sells a rebadged version of Revivex from their webshop. That could be another option.

Arcteyx recommend using Grangers, but Nikwax is good too. Garment definitely needs to be clean to unclog the micropores and allow the waterproofing to do it's magic. Heat also helps set the waterproofing as well.

Thanks guys. The jacket has been very lightly worn and only really had noticeable beading the first time I wore it in the (light) rain, after that it's been soaking through almost immediately. Still, it seems like it's a good idea to clean it before treating it with maybe the Revivex Arc' recommends. I'll follow the instructions on Arc's site.

Anyone have a size large Atom LT hoody they picked up during Black Friday or Cyber Monday that isn't going to work out?

Does anyone own a Navier AR coat from the most recent season, and have any insight into sizing? I'm looking for a coat that's sleek, but still has some room to layer under for colder days, and am trying to decide between a S and XS.

So I have ordered the following three jackets:
Arcteryx Thorsen
Veilance Monitor Down
Norse Projects Rokkvi 5.0 Gore Tex

I will keep one and return the other two. Obviously I will try them all on for fit, and look at them myself to see what I like, but does anyone have experience with how these brands hold up? I own a ton of main line Arcteryx, but no Veilance and I have never owned Norse Projects. It seems like most people would say the Veilance Monitor is the obvious choice here (ignoring price) but does anyone have a dissenting opinion?

I've owned the first two jackets. Both are absolute tanks and hold up great. Personally I like the style of the Monitor more, of course you're paying a fair premium for it.

Handled the Rokkvi in person. Its a cool coat and in absence of Veilance, I'd certainly buy one. Styling is nice but execution and finish isn't as crisp as Arc'teryx. Enjoy!

For anyone wondering (and in response to my own post) I currently have in my possession all three of: the Veilance Monitor Down (Black, L), the Arcteryx Thorsen (Black, L) and the Norse Projects Rokkvi Down Gore Tex (Black, L). Because I got the NP and the Veilance on (rare) sale (yes, from a reputable, authorized dealer) they are all around the same price (~$800-900 USD). Also, for reference, I am 6' 6", 205 lbs.

I ordered all three to try on, with the intention of returning two. Probably to no-one's surprise, I am keeping the Veilance. But, if anyone else is in the market for a similar jacket and wants more info (as I was) see my notes below.

Veilance: the coat is obviously beautifully made. It is also the slimmest fitting of the three, noticeably slimmer fitting than the ArcTeryx and almost too small across the shoulders. The sleeves are just barely long enough for me but I have long arms - this is a problem I have with all jackets, so it is sort of a fixed variable. Mostly the reason that I am keeping it is that the detailing looks great, the fit looks the best on me, and the way the zipper is constructed makes it easier to get on and off. I don't necessarily love that the down doesn't go all the way to the bottom, but it does make the coat less bulky, and there isn't really any reason to have down down there.

Arcteryx Thorsen: this would have been my next choice. Had I had to pay full price for the Veilance, I do not think that it would have been worth it, but at the same price, the veilance narrowly edged out the arcteryx. Slightly roomier fit, but also really high quality jacket. These jackets are cut long, so the Large fits me well with room to spare, even though I am a bigger than average person.

Norse Projects: This is also a nice jacket, but decidedly more "fashion" and "urban" feeling than "outdoorsy." The material on the cuffs and the neck is more like a sweatshirt type cuff; ribbed. I didn't like it as much. It is still a very nice jacket, and I think would be a great match for someone with a more urban style or aesthetic (I don't mean to overstate this though; all three jackets basically are indistinguishable when on, as they are just black parkas).

Tried on the Euler IS recently in Arc'teryx Shanghai and was quite disappointed. Both the coat and jacket versions looked shapeless especially in the upper body/shoulders. I sized down for a slightly better fit. The material also isn't completely waterproof and looks kinda cheap, neither version has a hood. I just don't see any purpose for it.

My Galvanic has been going strong for 4+ years now. I have to say that it's probably my favorite fashion purchase ever. The pockets are extremely convenient for walking around in the city. It's weatherproof and warm enough for harsh winters. The design is perfect, great silhouette and details, goes with everything. The only fault would be that the zipper has become more and more unresponsive over the years but that's replaceable. It's by far my most worn piece of outerwear and still looks and feels the same with minimal maintenance.

recently bought an older Monitor version (the one with the L bicep sleeve) but it was too big. Posted on Reddit and someone said it was fake. Anyone here familiar with circa 2014-2015 ones that can look at pics?
