Appropriate Wedding Tie?

It's my wedding, taking place in October. I was thinking of a solid navy or charcoal suit, with a light gray vest. Wedding colors are eggplant and silver. Saw this tie at an Off Saks and thought it might look okay for myself and my best man. What do you guys think?

Is it for you or your best man? I don't recommend that you both wear the same tie. Get another tie that is similar, but not the same.

i am not sure i'm a big fan of this tie for your purpose. doesn't seem formal enough, but i guess it depends on the wedding and what you are going for. if it were my wedding, i would likely wear something darker and more solid. or if i did not want dark, i would go with color. this seems a bit washed out and common. but at the end of the day, it's your wedding, wear what you like. either way, congrats!

Really? Why not? It will just be the two of us on the groom's side. My boutonniere will be different and I'll be wearing a waistcoat as well.

This is coincidental - just today I was advising my cousin that her fiance should wear a glencheck tie on the big day. As their accent color is apparently red, she was drawn to this tie from Drakes' catalgoue that I showed her:

Though I am not certain that he or I are particularly slavish to the orthodoxy of the black/white or black/silver colorway for the tie, I am still curious if it is not appropriate for the groom to stray outside the more neutral colors of glencheck ties.
