Any MTM Dress Shirt Makers in DC?

I have an odd body size: a relatively thick neck, long, mostly lean torso (a little gut is developing, however, as I am aging), medium to somewhat narrow-ish shoulders, large chest and short arms (oh, I also have uneven arms and shoulder lengths). Okay, that sounds really freakish, but I actually look all right. [IMG]

Most RTW shirts don't fit me well. For one thing, if the neck size is right, the shoulders are too big and the waist is too poofy, and the wrists are too thick.

I'm now resigned to getting MTM dress shirts. I heard much about Jantzen and would like to try it, but am concerned that my own measuring would be inferior.

Are there any good MTM shirt makers in the metro-DC area?

How much should one pay for such shirts with mid quality fabric?

You might try Hemrajani Brothers mytailor.com
when they visit DC later this month.

    They will take your measurements.

Quality is about the same as Jantzen.

Expect to pay about about $75 for a shirt with mid quality fabric.

Thank you for the information, but I was looking for a local clothier.

Highcliffe Clothiers can order MTM shirts for you. I have no
    personal experience with them.

Most of the only true on the premises chemisiers left in the US
are in New York and Los Angeles. Most clothing stores that say they
do custom shirts actually farm the work out to third parties.
Not that that is a bad thing.

    Try christopher Kim.

The store is not fancy, but he knows what he is doing.

Nordstrom can do Robert Talbot MTM. But it's not cheap, I don't think. Jantzen is like a quarter the price I think.

Do you have contact information for Christopher Kim? What is his price range?

    Everyone else:

What is the general range of prices for MTM shirts in the DC area?

Lastly, what RTW shirt makers have a relatively trim fit?

Kim takes measurements, but the shirts are made elsewhere.

I'm not a Washingtonian (and don't even play on TV), but I seem to remember that Field's tailors has some kind of deal with a shirtmaker. Paris or Geneva, perhaps. If the word on their suits is correct, they may also be a reliable judge of shirt providers.

That is correct. They do use Geneva. IIRC, they start around $200 or $250.

I'm still waaaaaay to cheap to spend that much money on shirts... for now.

But after spending more time on this forum, who knows? [IMG]
