I generally dislike alligator or crocodile shoes because they are too flashy for my tastes, but I saw a pair of John Lobb Vale monkstraps, my dream shoe, in crocodile on ebay and they were orgasmic! Unfortunately, I didn't save the photo and unfortunately (or fortunately for my wallet) they weren't my size.

+1. Its hard to resist the brand draw. A lot of Lobbs are over designed anyway. They seem to have all kinds of non-conventional models for southern/eastern europeans.

I'm with you in this one. Didn't want to write something might get all the hate on me :D But they look so vintage in a way. And for that price, no thank you.

+1. The shape is very unappealing to my eye.

I think these are pretty sweet, wear them with nearly anything other than a suit. I like croc/alligator as a loafer, not so much as a lace up.

The shoes are made from two alligators. The pipping is kangaroo. It took four fittings, 2 patterns, a try on shoe, and the last was altered three times. The whole process took 8 months

To get the pattern I wanted, I needed two alligators. I only used a little more then a 1/3 of each skin.

May we ask who made them for you. I took a close look at the welt stitching and it is quite fine!
