Hi,

I recently bought my first pair of cordovan shoes, they are the AE Dalton Cordovan boots. I have worn them one time for about 8 hrs at the office and have noticed that the left boot has developed excessive creasing almost like a cheap pair of calfskin shoes, the right boot is perfect with minor gently rolling similar to what I have read to expect from cordovan. These boots are not factory seconds, my question is could my boots be defective? Is this normal from one wear? I am very disappointed as I really like these boots but I don't think the wear on the left boot is normal. Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks for all the help.

I have pairs with uneven rolls between feet.
Shell rolls depending on fit, particular pieces of shell used, and luck. Just take the rolls as visual interest. The right foot will likely catch up over time.
Once the rolls are set, it's done. Even if you use a deer bone to reduce the rolls, they will return as you wear them.

thanks but the left boot has many creases not rolls. It almost looks like an accordion from one wear only, the right boot looks normal and similar to the boots pictured in the link you provided above but the left does not look right. I will post a picture tomorrow.

Here are the pics, this is after one wear. One of the boots looks like normal waving and the other has excessive creasing. I am wondering if these are defective/returned as when I ordered the boots I was told there was a 9 wk wait but the boots were shipped the next week. When I opened the box I could tell they had been tried on before as the left boot (right in pic) had small signs of creasing that got much worse throughout the first wear. Any thoughts would be helpful, thanks.

That's well within reason for creasing. If they were this way when you pulled them out, then you could definitely complain about them being sold as firsts. If it's after a wear, it's just how this pair rolled.
If this is your first pair of shell, you'll find that first wear more or less sets the rolls for life.
