How does the 108 last fit compared to the 5? Thinking of picking up LaSalle's from the tent sale.

I have a pair of Hale's (8-108) and two fifth aves (5 last) and they are both great but in the same size the 5 aves feel a bit roomier while the Hale's feel like they are made for my feet. I wish there were more oxfords made on the 108, but I might be tempted to pick up a pair of Vernons.

I'm sorry I can't help. For me, the 5 last is very narrow, so much so that I have to size up for width (from an E to a EE). The 2 last is notoriously hard to fit though. I couldn't find a size that worked for me. I've seen a few people complain of this. There are, of course, many people who don't have problems!

Also, worst case, Nordstroms generally has a no questions asked return policy. I assume this holds true for their sales?

I hope they work out and you can enjoy them though!

This thread gets so many responses that there's no way I can keep track, so if this has been covered before, I'm sorry:

If I wear 8D on the 5 last (Strand, FA, PA), what should I get on the MacNeil shell?

And could someone compare the shape of the MacNeil with the Alden LWB?

Could somebody please talk me out of buying the navy suede Strandmoks? I have no clue what I would wear them with, but I'm still ... Coveting them.

Don't get the Strandmoks. Put your credit card back in your wallet, close it and place it gently inside your pants pocket. The bright stitching and sole is too loud for me

Now take your wallet back out, open it, take out said credit card and purchase these!

Spiaggia, the more refined choice

Just having fun with you, peppercorn. I do like the Spiaggia better, but you should purchase shoes that make you happy. That is of course, if your budget allows. If it doesn't, than I say, "Don't mess with these blue suede shoes."

Another mystery "sample" shoe from AE? Shaker Heights. Brown leather with a tweed shaft. Personally, I like it.

These look as if Granny OptoDoc patched holes in my boots with one of Grandpa OptoDoc's old Tweed Jackets...without her glasses on. They look horrendous to me. I can see this working, but the incorporation of the Tweed in this boot looks sloppy to me.

The 1 Last fits at least one width bigger than the 5, and possibly half a size shorter. I took an 11 1/2 D in Long Branch (1 Last) and an 11 E in McAllister (5 Last).

Actually, if Brett arranges for you to pick up your Allen Edmond Sale selection(s) at a local Nordstroms Department Store, you will receive a complimentary free professional shine from their in-store shoe shine stand! I found they use a combination of great products, creams, waxes, and balms . . . that are not Saphir, but VERY GOOD.

AE had their annual sale a couple of months ago and the Mcallisters were on sale.
So, I contacted Nordstrom for a price match and they obliged. Right after that, Nordstrom placed a sale on the same shoes that AE had on sale.
I assumed my price match alerted them to place the same shoes on sale. haha
