I've got another new Strand purchase to share with everyone.

This is one I'm especially excited about, because it's one of the rarest models ever produced by Allen Edmonds:

#62 - 6120 - Chili Burnished Calf

Veterans of the board know that the chili color currently produced by Allen Edmonds is actually the company's second chili color. The modern iteration of chili was called Bob's Chili back in 2014 when it was first introduced (along with Jose's Oxblood), before it became the dark chili we all know and love.

Before dark chili there was burnished chili. Near the end of burnished chili's lifecycle, Allen Edmonds decided that their June 2013 webgem would offer customers the chance to grab a chili shoe in their Timeless Classics line. Of these models, the Strand was never before offered in this colorway.

So, for a little less than a month, the Strand was offered in burnished chili leather for the first and last time. Like all webgem Strands, this one is exceedingly rare, and I've only seen a couple of these ever listed for resale online.

One nice thing about being the world's biggest Strand fanatic is that I can get away with purchasing really rare pieces without sellers even knowing what they have for sale. Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.

In any case, here's a comparison between this new acquisition and it's newer brother, the dark chili Strand from 2018:

And here they are next to some other colors that were being offered at the time. From left to right: dark brown burnished, dark chili, oxblood, chili burnished, bourbon, and the classic walnut calf.

Burnished chili is such a nice medium brown, smack dab between the oxblood and walnut extremes. Its modern comparison is probably cigar or coffee calf, great colors in their own right!

As a side note, since the trunk show is only a few days away, just a reminder to add your order to the AEAT trunk show spreadsheet, link in my signature. We probably won't hit 108 pairs this time, but it's still fun to see what everyone is going to get!
