I'm most interested in the Hamiltons, followed by the Strands, followed by the McAllisters.

I'm leaning toward doing Marbled Cognac in all three, but would get Oxblood too, if it was available. I'm assuming the Burgundy would be too dark for my liking, since I prefer a redder finish. Saphir Hermes Red over Allen Edmonds Calf Oxblood is perfection, in my opinion.

The chili shell is *very* red. It could be an option for you.

I was thinking about Chili, but I still prefer a deeper red.

Chili, to me, is like the perfect middle ground between red and brown, when I would rather wear just red or just brown by themselves.

Looking back on the Marbled Cognac, I'm not sure I'm digging the natural light photos, as I too am seeing the muddy water someone mentioned earlier. The Strand in the professional picture looks unbelievable, however. My concern is what it will look like when I unbox it.

On second thought, maybe I will just go with Burgundy and try to use some Saphir to brighten them up. Decisions decisions...

I also really like the green, but I'm not sure I can pull them off. Bourbon could work too.

FOR SURE:
MacAllister - Chili Shell, double JR, reverse welt, antique welt / whiskey edge. (An MTO Cambridge by any other name, or is it a faux MacTavish?)

CONTENDERS:
Landon - marbled cognac, commando, not sure about welt/edge (Ashley, what were the welt/edge on the Park and Landon in THIS PHOTO you posted? the options are hard to tell apart). Landon is contingent on my ability to try on and confirm a 9.5 D will fit my usual 9.5E.

Otherwise, perhaps a Leeds in marbled cognac, antique welt / whiskey edge...(or maybe a Park, tho I'd have to reconcile the marble and bal lacing)

Really impressed we have any options at all given the year we've had.

Polish on shell is blasphemy!

From your first post, I assume this is your first shell cordovan pair? If you're wanting in between chili and burgundy, I would recommend you buy chili and darken it with a cream polish. Otherwise, the only way you are lightening that burgundy shell is by sticking it in the sun.

Thank you for the advice! Yes, I have never owned shell and want to get my choice right the first time around. I was planning on using whatever conditioner and cream polish Saphir makes for shell. Is that sacrilegious? Maybe I'll just embrace Burgundy.

You can use polish on shell, but most save it for when it really needs it.
The beauty of shell for me is the color variations and visual depth. Covering it with polish is self defeating in my book.

I'm all about the uneven coloring. Here's my pair from last go around.

The only reason I'm not jumping in on the marbled/shaved is my new Rx-7's price tag.

I'm going with navy hamiltons, but I'm unsure of the sole. Definitely a flat welt (if that's an option)? and something in the medium brown color family. From a practical standpoint, I'd want to wear these in the fall and winter without being too concerned for the soles getting wet, so I'm tempted to say v-tread or brown dainite, but I see many people going with JR soles, which are definitely the nicer option.

I'm kind of glad AE is not offering that kind of welt/stitching combo this time. Them taking it out of the equation makes it easier for me. A shaved cognac Leeds with that welt and stitching and a single JR buff sole would look fantastic. I'm probably going to sit this one out.
