I just sold my Jingle Bells, as I purchased the Santa Mok the day they dropped.I got a new AE Catalog yesterday. At the end they have holiday limited edition shoes. Green and Red. I think they are sort of cool and I would like a pair. BUT, I can't justify $400 for a pair I will only wear a couple days a year.
I have the 1776 (Red white and Blue) Wing. But, when they were on sale AE was selling them for $199. I wish these were more reasonably priced.

My JBMs get worn from Thanksgiving Day until NYE eve (yes 2 eves). Then they go back in bags and box and up on the shelf till next year. Still, if you go by worn counts, they get worn more than any other pair in a given year.I just sold my Jingle Bells, as I purchased the Santa Mok the day they dropped.
(I'll wear them after Christmas like I did the JBs because the red is a darker more burnished color than the pics might lead you to believe.

I actually got a catalog this year and was satisfied with the exception of the discrimination of the Hamilton boots! One background pic from the front is all we get???
Would be a big statement for somebody who doesn’t even celebrate ChristmasMy JBMs get worn from Thanksgiving Day until NYE eve (yes 2 eves). Then they go back in bags and box and up on the shelf till next year. Still, if you go by worn counts, they get worn more than any other pair in a given year.
Counterpoint: I don't call that self control. I call that wasting valuable resources. What good does a pair of shoes do anyone collecting dust in a closet, never being worn? Wear them into the ground until you need to resole. Then resole and wear them into the ground again.RinseBrush and repeat.
Those are awesome looking, you are a lucky guy.Well, this happened. Those Charleston folks are dangerous.

I hope they can float, y'er makin' me nervous..I think Elvis got it wrong. Instead of blue suede, the song should have been blue shell.

Hell if a Sullivan MTO is happening, the I don't even mind their standard config i.e Brown Vegano & Brown Pebble Grain, but this time with Double Leather sole, because fck AE for not being able to welt Dainite properlyNatty, preferably Dublin, Macneil with antique brass eyelets. Double JR sole. Storm welt.
And I second the idea of a natty Sullivan with suede shaft. The Sullivan is a MTO waiting to happen. So many possibilities.
Ditto, I have both in Brown and Walnut Color. I paired them with some BIlls Khakis of that business casual look. Both have crooked Dainite in it though so I want Sullivan to be GMTO just for that better QAOG Dark Brown Sullivans again.
Rant: For the life of me, I can't understand why this wasn't a better seller for AE. There's really nothing else on the market like it--a true business casual Galway. Many of the other Galway-pattern field boots are a little too dressy for chinos, IMHO, and particularly those around AE's price point like Carlos Santos, Lof & Tung, etc. These 511s are not a perfect fit for my feet and have some decidedly weird creasing going on, but they stay in heavy rotation on bad-weather days because they're just so versatile. Only thing I have in my closet that's comparable is a C&J Coniston, but it (1) doesn't have the visual interest of the two-leather pattern and (2) costs at least twice as much.
Rant over. Hope this one comes back in some trunk shows in future. I'll buy.
