I've done this look...
with lugsoled chukka boots.

It's context. I'm not in a profession with a business dress code. I just like wearing suits on Sunday. So switching up the shoes brings down the formality within reason. Sneakers? I wouldn't, but it can work.

The whole outfit better be casual, like Jersey knit suit from Target (or a linen patch pocket suit) with a striped shirt or even polo. Yes, it breaks all the rules, but it's a cohesive outfit.

Take this Balmoral Oxford boot with a lugsole from this brand I found on Amazon. Strange, but some people would pair that with a flannel suit in the rain...and what's so wrong with it? They managed to keep the price high, so there must be some appeal.
