Off topic, but relevant to the recent derail:
If you live in Texas or the southwest (or don’t mind getting funny looks), I picked up an Atwood cowboy hat for the first time back in February. Straw cowboy hats, for those that have never handled them, tend to be coated in a hard plasticky finish (like the Justin ones I’ve always had)- it’s not bad, and cooler than fur or felt, but can feel cheap. The Atwood I bought (the Thoroughbred model) is made with palm leaves and wears very cool while being very sturdy. I typically wear a cowboy hat to the rodeo and during the summer at my inlaws’ property. From the rodeo:

It’s really a great hat- lots of coverage, sturdy, and wears pretty cool.

Nice hat! Your inlaws host a rodeo on their property? That's awesome!

My bad. I read it wrong. I'm way too tired and still have way too much work to do tonight. It would probably help if I'd get off SF and actually do the work!

I’m watching a gnarly lightning show over downtown and figuring out if I’m going to even be able to get to work tomorrow lol

I know most will hate it. I like it, but I can't see buying it. Too many lugsoled boots that do the same job better. Dublin Stirling, anyone?
Like all the new stuff, this "Tupelo" aims to steal the lunch of online-only disruptive brands like Trask, Ross & Snow, Wolf & Shepherd, Moral Code, Acemarks, and Thursday. I can only imagine this is what happens when you bring in the marketing and MBA kids to drive your newly-acquired your heritage brand.

Really, I'm not complaining. The Nomads are great, Catalinas look okay, and they made the Stirling.

It looks like a Strand with a lug sole - an odd complement to a balmoral, whereas the Strandmok (with dainite), though also balmoral, somehow pulls off that kind of look with aplomb. Maybe it's the pebblegrain upper?

Strandmok has had several different types of leathers used with the Dainite soles. They make it look good I think with the details, such as stitching colors, welt, etc.
