in this instance, unfortunately, there IS something I can do, but helping risks my career if I go about it too quickly. the kicker being that time is still a factor. tomorrow (first day back at work after being on leave) is going to be a nail-biter to be sure. thank you, regardless. i genuinely appreciate everything.

it's not a medical thing, it's a life situation thing.

Well my best wishes still apply... My life has been quite full of medical issues so it was a simple leap for me... but medical or otherwise I sure hope things end up going the best possible way. :)

Quote: That's my exact setting. I'd say you're good to go with grey and navy for sure. My only concern with these shoes would be wearing them with pants of an actual khaki color as there would be a decided lack of contrast there. Definitely good to go with jeans, so you should have minimal reservations. At least a couple other fellas on here post pics of theirs semi-regularly. You should be able to browse through the thread's image gallery to get a good idea of how they'll work out. Both @MiddlepP and @SLCRich come to mind.
Perhaps a brown strandmok would be a better shoe?

That spray on finish is crap. I've had to return a few because of it being splotchy etc... Not related to AE but close to their price now... just received 2 pairs CJ pembrokes and both were flawless... got them to try on but damn now I want to keep the ones that fit. Small sample size I know but was impressed.

That's how it all began for me. Pembrokes to size for the Warlows. Now I have so many more shortwings from C&J.

Strands will arrive on Monday. First pair of AEs (seconds) and now second pair (firsts) within a month or so.

Hey you're an IT geek too?

I knew we had a connection... Before I got sick I was doing the Research Computing Support at a major cancer hospital.  I would joke with the chemo nurses 'I went from an employee to being a patient' (a spin on that Remington razor AD from the 70s/80s) rule #1 never looks your sense of humor (not ever).

Yes I do storage administration right now, but I'm a Unix nerd at heart. I'm glad it sounds like you're able to stay positive in the face of adversity. Hopefully your prognosis going forward is optimal.

Going with shortwings and longwings from them. That Cheviot 2 in whisky is calling my name. That color looks like bourbon in the recent runs and looks amazing. Probably going to jump into Marlow Wingtip too if it can close before prices go up haha. Curious to see how their longwings compare to the 2 Macneils I got recently (which are quite well done I might add). Crazy thing is... they will be cheaper than from AE unless I add flush metal toe taps.

Personally, I wouldn't bat an eye at any of those issues and would wear them right away. But, that's me. I'm not terribly picky, and usually drunk. So, take that for what it's worth.

I feel like you and I could be good friends.

If it isn't medical, then try to keep the perspective that a year from now it will be something you got through, and won't look as big in the rear-view mirror as it does right in front of you. Best wishes!

If you're only going to own one pair, maybe. But as a licensed FBW, I say why not just get both? That way you can alternate and extend their lifespan.

I vow to have both a natural CXL shoe (Oak Street or Academy) and the brown Strandmok this year but hopefully in time for Spring if the right deal comes along.

I'm telling you guys, the answer is weaselcon.

This would be great. So where and when? Denver? Chicago? Las Vegas? Probably someplace that is somewhat centralized or to which reasonable air fares can be obtained. I'm no frequent flyer, so other ideas are welcome. I bet a fair number of you have lots of miles accumulated.

Just tossing stuff out there, but also I will (or should) be in all of these places this year at some point or can be easily in the case of Chicago.

I have my own airline.
