Wearing brown grain Kiowas (and a brown alligator belt) with a brown tweed suit.

(Same shoes and suit in both pictures. Got the suit at Brook Brothers in the fall of 1965.)

Don't know if I'm more impressed that you've owned that suit for over 50 years, or that you can still fit in it after 50 years.

Anybody know what I can do to make this scratch on my AE Daltons less visible? I tried shoe polish and still the same. I mean it doesn't bother me that much and it's not that noticeable when I have them on, but I still would like to do something about it if I can. Thanks!

Another swim meet tonight, so had to wear something else with a dainite sole - strandmoks in tan nubuck. Honestly, these are probably my most comfortable pair of shoes, the nubuck fits the feet like a glove and is crazy comfortable. Of course, had to change to orange laces to show team spirit.

What's the age requirement for tassels? :) *looks over at his Graysons*

Considering I'm under 30, I clearly didn't get the age requirement memo lol

Solid advice @Cold Iron. I also got into colognes about the same time as shoes. That "community" is very diverse too. The young clubbers looking for panty dropping scents and others that figured out wearing a scent that appeals to yourself more than others always is the choice

Off topic tangent warning:

Man, THATS a rabbit hole- one that had me end up with 20 some odd bottles a couple years ago. I wear all of them, but there only a few I replace when I run out. I have mine separated by season, time of day, and formality (so I have different ones for "winter/night/formal", "spring/day/work", etc).

Haha @orange fury I started out that way. Now I'm like eff it. If I want to wear spice bomb in 105 degree weather, I'm gonna wear it.

Congrats! What a great looking shoe. I don't own any blue shell, or blue shoes for that matter. Yet but after seeing those...

I'm glad to see AE finally offering the antique edge about time! When my brown cordovan Patriots needed resoled AE would not do natural welt for me so I ended up sending them off to B. Nelson in NYC for antique edges on JR soles.

I liked them enough that when someone on here had a MTO done in Cappuccino shell and AE put the wrong edge on them I took a chance and purchased them. Then sanded down the edges and treated it with natural edge dressing. Several said they wouldn't hold up but they have been fine for a number of years now and get a lot of wear.

Not sure how much wear I would get out of the blue shell, but have a strong urge to get yet another pair of MacNeil's exactly like yours. Again, very well done!

It's good to see you again @Cold Iron The shoes look great!

I love Spice Bomb but I couldn't do it in that heat- stuff like that is uncomfortably cloying to me in high temps. Summer is primarily citruses and aquatics for me.

That said, one of my favorite scents When it's cold is Van Cleef and Arpels "Midnight in Paris" (the EDP). I'll put one spray of that stuff on at 6pm, and I'll still smell it strongly the next day.

@orange fury when you have some time I'd love to hear some of your other recommendations on cologne. I'm looking to broaden my horizons a bit and preferably not with more mainstream items I can find at Bon-Ton or Macy's.

Alumnus today
Until now, I've never realized that the Alumnus is a pretty darn good looking shoe!
Agreed @gm928, the AE website photos often leave much to be desired. To my eye, from some angles, the Alumnus can look a little disproportional. But it's a shoe that my extra wide feet feel happy in, so they get a lot of wear. :)

Yeah, I got a lightly used one from dabando1 in an 11.5 D that looked like it was worn maybe 2-3 times. I'm usually between 11.5 and 12. I was swimming in them at 11.5 and the laces completely closed. It is a really, really wide shoe. I think I'm going to try an 11 and see if that helps.

I thought it was a great looking shoe and it seemed to be pretty comfortable. Brown is a great color for CXL shoes.
