Thanks! That's a cool spot. Right where all the yagata-bune shops are along the Kanda-gawa. Will have to check it out next time in the area.

any recommendations for a Chukka that fits like a modified?

There are several Japanese manufactures that make Modified Last inspired (or knockoff) shoes

MIYAGI KOGYO has a line of MTO shoes that uses a Modified Last inspired 'Oblique' Last, and they have a Chukka Model (model MD-07)

Michael Andrews Bespoke
20 Clinton St., New York, NY 10002,USA TEL 010-1-212-677-1755

hope this info helps! :fonz:

Thank you so much! I just visited Moulded in NYC yesterday out of interest and after being measured, it turns out I have a modified last. When I put a pair of Aldens on, a pair of suede oxfords with a new ruit was like heaven and I immediately bought a pair (at vast expense). All these years and I never had the right fit...Thanks again!

Nutcracker,

Is Pegman one of the brands that emulates the modified last? They always look like the Modified Last in pictures.

Pegman is an original brand of Lacota, the distributor of Alden. They're positioned as sort of a lil bro' of Alden, but made in China (with handsewn welting)

Supposed to be inspired by good old American shoes from the 1950's.
I think they're closer in shape/fitting to the 379x military last, but with tighter waist like a modified last.

I forgot about those Regal banana last shoes. They were in a recent Men's EX "bookazine" or a recent issue of LAST (I can't remember which) and I forgot to see if they were available on Rakuten. In the same magazine I remember several shoes reminding me of the modified last

After looking at Nutcracker's scanlations link in his sig, I remembered that I recently asked Crockett & Jones in NYC if the 367 last (the one with the tight waist and higher heel cup) was available as a special order and they told me it was definitely not available outside Japan.

You'd better stay away from Leffot, then, because they have a v-tip modified last in #8 shell for a far vaster expense.

I actually spent quite some time examining the new 367 at Isetan Men's the other day. With a tigher and more pronounced waist, a pseudo-fiddleback sole, and a pitched heel, they are marketed as an improvement, or an update to 337 (instead of being treated as a different last). Some of the staple 337's models (Audley, Belgrave etc...) have been replaced from the shelf with the new 367' versions. shame they're designated as Japan exclusive models.

sorry no photos :) but they go for something like 78,000JPY or so new (about 1,000 USD)....

one funny thing I did notice was that Audley III (with 367) was available in black and 'Chestnut Antique', while Belgrave III was available in black and 'Dark Brown'. Yes, that is direct opposite from their 337 counterparts....
