You misunderstand my point. I'm suggesting that your approach forestalls discussion about the actual subject (not the meta discussion about the discussion). This isn't really the best venue for monologuing.

There r ppl here, I'm thinking Chocosa, blueinparis, Kulata,  for example, who IIRC don't post brands, just great fits, and get plenty of credit.
I can see that a svelte figure, loose fit, casual stance, pensive expression and sombre monochrome palette helps, but beyond that  I  have no real  idea why some r good and some r not.

I'll be honest sometimes it's just bullshit really. There are certain unwritten "rules" over there just as here, although the fit/approval nexus I believe has a bit more to do with how it reflects the wearer's overall "vibe/mojo". Formal wear has a history and more structure and the variation is more restricted while SW&D is practically wide open, but within certain limits. It's not a perfect analogy, but a bit like classical music v. jazz.

I'm half teasing Caustic, but I got ya. Sure it's a bit different, but at it's most basic just jeans, sneaks and a shirt. Sometimes I'm just a little amazed at the "what are these jeans and sneakers and what on earth shall I do with them" attitude. Btw, your recent foray into more casual stuff is looking good.

(2) Those lemon trousers clash violently with everything else. There is no coherence whatsoever. As a matter of fact I think those trews would be hard to match with just about anything - maybe a soft, unstructured linen knit top of some sort might work with them. I dunno. But certainly not with that dandyish, Henley Regatta upper block.

Still, the glasses are just killer. So boss it's not funny. Wish I could get away with ****-everybody frames like that.

Because it's dandy I really think it could work with different shoes (not sure what, but not black) and a square or different scarf with some yellow that would pull in the pants and perhaps balance it out. As you've pointed out it's already an eff-you fit and matching is not his goal so might as well go all the way.

The glasses are what got me though. I don't mind the shape (quite cool actually), but what's with the writing/logo on the lens? Totally kills it for me.

They're Cazals, though. The conspicuous branding is so much an element of the design that they get a pass. Are those your primary glasses, @mcobinad ?

I also don't mind the black shoes – yes, I suppose you could call it too formal, but anything else would be too much for the color palette. Perhaps the right reddish/burgundy/black cherry color could work, but the wrong shade of burgundy would look much worse than black.

I do think it's a bit tight, and that if it had a tiny bit more ease it would still send the same message even louder, you know? I think it's a bit too tight to look relaxed.

Hmmm. I knew that is part of it, but I don't wear glasses (and therefore don't know about most of them) … however, since they appear to be eyeglasses as opposed to sunglasses it strikes me as somehow more inappropriate. I find it somewhat odd that in this case you cite the conspicuous branding as part of the "design" and therefore granted a pass. Couldn't that be said of just about anything? The H belt, LV shoes, etc.?

Yeah, but I like Cazals. I just have a really clear double standard for things that remind me of Run-DMC.

I do read them as somewhat kitsch, though, and the way they flirt with bad taste is a big part of that. But I like them because of their kitsch value, not in spite of it.
