I emailed Allen Edmonds customer support regarding an order 48 hours ago and still don't have a reply. My first interaction with the company has thus far been quite ******.

Hang in there, they have always responded within a day in all of my inquiries and issues. Maybe it's a holiday high email volume issue...

I don't know if they're having problems in IT or what is happening... Their website has had continued problems over the last month. I also tried to contact them during the Thanskgiving sale and never received a reply from two different stores, missing my opportunity to make a purchase.

I emailed them earlier today about a pair purchased during the Rediscover America sale which is suffering from the dreaded heel separation. Hoping I'll get a response from that (but for this, I'll definitely call if I don't get a response)

Why don't y'all just all them directly or speak with live chat?

Welcome all, this is my first post here after browsing periodically for ~1 year. I've become a huge AE fan, and although I'm currently a poor medical student, I've been acquiring some second-hand AE shoes via ebay recently. My current "collection" includes:

1. Bradley (Black calf)
2. Bradley (Distressed brown calf)
3. Delray (Chili)
4. Westbrook boat shoe (brown)

I also own two pairs of J&M (I know, I know) Meltons, one in Black and one in Burgundy. I'm currently interviewing for residencies, so I've been wearing my black Meltons with my charcoal suit and my burgundy Meltons with my navy suit. I'd love to get a pair of Park Aves or two in these colors instead, but so far haven't come across much in my price range, and since I already have J&Ms which technically serve their purpose at the moment, I will probably hold off on any Park Aves for a while.

But, my question for now is, what other AE shoes do you recommend for me to continue building my collection? A few caveats:
-I don't like buckles
-Not a big fan of super-simple plain toe shoes (love moc/split or cap-toe though), although I'm open to suggestions
-I don't do tassles on loafers

Other than that, I'm open to hear what you guys recommend!

I definitely recommend the Fifth Aves, grab em at the 2 for $300 sale now! Or the Strands, or Cliftons...Either one in Walnut, or Fifth Aves in dark brown if they have any left...
You have the Delray, so IMO the Lasalle is very similar.

I have the Dalton boots and LOVE them. You can dress them down with jeans if need be. Very versatile. :slayer:

I personally don't like the 5th aves because of the brogueing. If he like the Park Aves, I would recommend waiting for those to go on sale instead.

I suppose I'm just stuck in my ways. I avoid making phone calls.

I did end up calling and getting a quick answer. I'll be sending my Strands home (to AE) for the holidays... :-/

I dont remember seeing a reply to this a few pages back, but does anyone know what exactly a trunk sale is? Are there discounted shoes there?

Do you have the grain version? I think the brown grain verson would look fine with jeans. I have the non-grain, and my wife said the same as yours, that they were too "dressy" for jeans. I think they'd be passable with a nice pair of selvedge jeans and a sportcoat, but I can't pull them off with my crappy jeans. My wife also told me the soles were too thick to wear with plain wool dress pants. I'm wearing them right now with khakis and a tweed jacket. I think they'd be ok with heavier tweed or flannel pants as well.

I went with the brown burnished calfskin. I kind of like them with jeans, though, so I may just have to see if I can change her mind.

My understanding is that retailers which carry a limited selection will receive a limited quantity, wider-selection of shoes than they normally carry.

Hello I'm a new member and I have recently started wearing some Allen Edmonds shoes. I have had a few negative experiences, however. I went to a local store to get fitted, and although they didn't have the 9.5 E in Bayfields to try them on, the employee told me to try on a pair using the same last.

Well when they got in the mail there was a defect on the edge of the leather which looked like it was torn somehow, so I had to take them back. The new pair was defect-free, however, the fit was bad, I walked to the post office one day from the office and I actually had to stop and take them off and massage my feet on the sidewalk. It was somehow putting pressure on the back of my large toe knuckle, and it felt like the nerve/vein/thing was being compressed, and was painful and the top of my feet were numb and tingly and painful in that place. In fact if I touch that area it still has an odd feeling even now.

Anyways, I was determined to wear them in, but the left one came apart on the edge where the leather meets the rubber part, and you could see the cork layer through the separation. So I had to take them back after all.

So just two days ago, I told her I wasn't going to wear those again, not after all that, and I exchanged them for the Bentons, which have a removable leather sole. (which I'm still not sure if I like or not, the Bayfields was solid leather). They fit better on top and the sides, the Bayfields were too narrow even at E, but the opening where you foot goes in, there is stitching on the inside edge, and it's actually chafing me so bad that I have to bleeding spots under my ankles even with socks.

So yeah even though technically they are more comfortable, and I'm impressed with all leather shoes (never worn that before) I've had nothing but bad luck. I'm not saying it's their fault but damn, what am I supposed to do. I thought $300 for some shoes would be better constructed or something.

Does anyone have pictures of the new walnut cordovan strands besides the ones on the website? I noticed AE shoes always look horrible in their stock pictures. I'm on the fence about purchasing but don't have an AE near me.
