I'd throw Wes Anderson and the Coen brothers in that list too.

We watched an early Mike Leigh over the weekend:

Disastrously bad. Felt like someone tried to turn a Monty Python skit into a community theatre "dramatic".

    On the other hand, this:

was phenomenal. Great performances and very a moving look at childhood, broken families and frustrated dreams. As grim as that sounds, it was quite uplifting.

Dom Hemingway...really enjoyed it. I know a lot of people think its a poor mans bronson but it really isn't, sure there are some elements and similar camera shots but its not the same thing.

TBH I was curious and never got around to watching until my iPad app had most of the movies on stream

Next movie is probably Harry Potter. I fell asleep watching the first one like 5+ years ago. Will revisit that...

Stitchy, if you liked the first 7 Harry Potter movies you should probably check the last one as well ;-)

Saw these two over the last couple of days:

Pretty good. Had a similar mood and tempo as Anton Corbijn's The American with Clooney.

Got a nice 70's vibe from this one by Werner Herzog (who made a great baddie in Jack Reacher).

That is epic dedication. I'd love to go through them all in a row and see the differences... But that is like an entire day of straight blade runner.
