I concur with navy. I think purple might make for an interesting one as well and perhaps a light blue for a spring or summer wedding.

Gray is pretty versatile and I think it'll work with most tie colors other than perhaps a strong red.

google search grey suits, click on images, pick out which tie you think looks best. Grey is pretty easy to match to most colors

and simply look around you in the streets to see what others are doing. I'd dump the shoes, they look hideous.

If you're dark-haired: solid tie in some dark shade of grey, blue or brown.
If you're fair-haired: solid tie in some medium-to-light tint of grey, blue or brown.

And no shine, please!

Yeah I was thinking about go for some light brown shoes. What do you think?
