I have bold/underlined your mistake.

I usually hit those stores the day before the half price sales. My time is generally worth more than saving a few bucks.

So a couple years ago I had a very rare WWII camouflage herringbone twill jumpsuit taken out of my cart and the guy actually walked out the door of the GW without paying for it in order to avoid being stopped, had I noticed before he exited the store and alerted the store workers/management. He must have watched me put it in my cart too, as I really buried it in there so it wasn't sitting in plain sight.

Well, I finally found out who took it. A friend and regular who hits most of the stores I hit (but goes after different stuff) called me and told me that one of the regulars who never really talks to anyone chatted him up last night and bragged about how he grabbed a WWII camo jumpsuit from someone's cart at that same GW "awhile back". He also managed to get his eBay account. I've got my eyes peeled for them but think they've long since been sold. I guess the guy had to make a new eBay account because he was screwing over people on his old one and got it banned. Figures.....

I'm so terrified of this happening I've actually stopped trying things on in the dressing room unless I'm with someone who can watch my cart.

Hehe... One benefit of hoarding clothing: Going denim shopping in your own inventory.

So I've been losing a lot of weight recently, and all my good selvedge jeans (Gustin, PRPS, vintage Levis, N&F, etc) are all WAY too big for me to wear. My slimmest pair (UB201) are like 2 sizes too big. I've been looking for new pairs at trade shops, eBay, SF, etc... I then realized this morning that I could just go out to my workshop and look through my 40-50+ pairs I have on hand. Ended up finding 3 pairs that fit very well, and even some old photos for each.

- RRL Dark Indigo Selvedge (copped from Buffalo for a few J.crew trade items)

- Made & Crafted Cinch-Back Tan Selvedge Work Chinos ($24.99 at a boutique thrift.)

- 3x1 Tan Selvedge Jeans. (True thrift. $7.99)

Kinda glad I didn't sell these right away. Can wear these around for awhile now.

That is horrible.

I always am a bit paranoid if I have to use the restroom in a shop. If I have really outstanding stuff, I will pay first and then go in (same for fitting rooms). I've even been known to take the cart into the restroom if I have to.

That really sucks. I'm also fearful of getting my stuff jacked out of my cart... Or have a damn employee put it back on the rack and have someone buy it and walk out. Luckily, neither has happened.

If I score something really primo, like Kiton / Isaia / etc... Normally I watch it like a hawk until I've scanned the rest of the store. I will then purchase anything "primo" immediately and put it out in my car, and lock the doors with the items in bags out of plain view.

When I pull it off the rack, I keep that **** down. I don't say anything... I just fold it up and put it in the cart / basket. If it's something REALLY nice, I'll even bury it under a bunch of other crap.

Did anyone automatically think of Shawshank Redemption? I am probably the only one lol

DUDE YES! When that one guy is telling the story... "Some hot-shot banker... And he's the one they pinned it on!"
