Hmmmm That's a tough one. It depends on how many casual #8 boots you'd like. I say casual because I feel the DC boots on Grant are a bit dressier than the NST and PCT boots.

Personally, I have the #8 NST and the #8 straight tip boot on Grant. For me, the tanker satisfies all my casual shell boot needs. I won't add anymore casual shell boots.

Thanks Tifosi, I have sold my #8 LS captoe on Plaza and don't have any #8 in the stable. I also on the list for J Gilbert #8 Indy on Plaza last

@mdubs - that belt is amazing. I saw the few Kathy had in person, although they were the 35mm with the brass buckle (I'm assuming the silver buckle is on the narrower version?). Still, absolutely beautiful belt, in addition to the shoes as well!

Need some opinion gents,

I have Leffot's Tankers in Color 8 and Alden DC Cigar captoes coming soon. I also have J Crew Color 8 captoe boots that are scheduled to be shipped in early May that I got for 20% off.


Trying to decide if I really need J Crew captoes...

I own the Leffot tankers and the DC Cigar captoes. I have also bought and sold (or am trying to sell) three separate color 8 captoe models (Barrie straight tips from Alden DC, Leffot captoes on antique soles, and the captoes in my sig).

IMO, you could add a dressy cordovan boot to your collection without too much redundancy. The question is does the J Crew boot fit that description. It looks relatively sleek given the flat 360 welt; however, the Barrie last may cause it look casual. If I were you I would add a black boot before adding one in color 8 (Leffot's black naval boot or the 4065), but if you don't like black boots, the color 8 J Crew captoes aren't necessarily a bad add.

Thanks for your feedback as well, Alcibiades. I have no plans for Alden black shell right now. Might just go with J Crew PCT and take my name off J Gilbert Indy list (Plaza).

Even though they are different lasts, I would and have found shell Tankers and shell Indys too redundant. Once I got my Tankers I sold off my shell Indys.

thanks, I would pay the full price as well but at slightly discounted price I like it even better.

Looks like Context got its latest shipment of boots in, including Color 8 tankers. I see one pair of tankers is available in 10D. I don't expect them to last long...

Just got an email back from Context. Alas, the Tankers have not actually arrived. The pair of 10D that popped up online over the weekend were from a "limited shop floor stock". There is still no news on when Alden will make the delivery which was due in Feb...

What do my Alden brethren wear with shorts in the spring/ summer besides loafers? My feet don't do well with loafer sizing. Any bluchers? Maybe the suede dovers? I wanted to go to shoe for warmer months. I thought about just wearing my brown CXL dovers. I'm pretty casual in the warmer months with usually shorts and V neck tee or something. I wore my Whiskey LWB once last year with shorts and I was self concious all day, haha.

For me:
whiskey LHS
unlined suede PTB - tan or snuff
some old AE boat shoes get worn from time to time
