Thank you, Sir!Great choices. I have about 6 RL cable knit cashmere sweaters myself. Black tassel loafers are on my list
Long time lurker, first time poster; to this particular thread. I received a good chunk of cash from my parents for Christmas and its time to make another Alden purchase. I have a very small collection and I am looking for my next purchase to be able to cover the widest spectrum in regards to versatility. I'm looking for something sleek enough to wear with a suit yet casual enough to wear with jeans. Also, this will be my first shell purchase.
Current collection:
Dark brown 913
Burgundy calf 683
Black pebble Longwing on Truflare(Grandfathers from the 80's)
J. Crew Indy
I view this thread daily and really am having a tough time deciding what my next best option may be. I know the decision is ultimately up to me and my tastes but I was hoping to get some feedback from the community.
Considering:
#8 longwing(actually would consider any color other than black)
#8 J. Crew cap
#8 Shoemart cap
#8 Sherman brothers cap
Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciate!! Replies with pictures never hurt anyone either!
I agree with this, with the only addition that maybe I would go for 974 balmoral instead of the #8 LWB. The blucher doesn't go as well with a suit, IMHO, which makes the 974 slightly more versatile. But, really, you can't go wrong.#8 LWB, if I could have only one pair of Aldens, this one would be it.
Its night time, and the incandescent lighting in the house tints everything orange/pink.Stop using flash from a point and shoot or phone take a picture by a window or natural light instead.

Are these on the Grant? How do you size these compared to your other lasts? I tried these on last week and they seemed a little tight in the toe box, went with Barrie Jcrew instead
...Full eyelets are boss!
I find the J. Crew #8 captoe on the Barrie to be very narrow relative to a LWB in the same size.
I agree that Alden's barrie captoe boots seem to run a bit narrower than other barrie shoes. As a result, I am selling two pretty nice cordovan captoe models - check my sig. My cigar captoe boots in grant 10E are among my best fitting Alden shoes, so when it comes to captoe boots, I am going to try to order that last and size. Alden NY, DC, Shoemart, etc all offer captoe boots on grant, so I may try to get that in color 8 soon.
