Ravello in the wild

I'm done (for now).

Cap Toe Boots (Ravello)
LWB (Color 8)
PTB Beales (Cigar)
Indy Boots (CXL)
Love the patina those Ravello's are developing

Clearing my picture folder this morning and found these. I think I posted these long time ago. Just for fun, anyone cares to guess which models these were (the shoes, of course)? The prize will be the watches in the picture. ........................................................NOT.

Went into Unionmade thinking that I had my mind set on the Ravello Cap toe (after waiting for months) but picked these up instead...

Pebble Grain Chukka with Commando Sole
Someone out there is enjoying the 9D Ravello that I gave up. I actually find myself wearing the Alden Chukka models more than the boots.

Not sure if it is me - but I did get the last 9D. If so, a hearty thank you. :nodding:

Nice chukkas. I too like chukkas and have many.

I think the color 4 and black saddle is actually from Leather Soul.

And the Black Alpine Grain and whiskey saddle is from Blackbird.

Bingo! The Leathersoul version is in Blucher style (open lace, Derby......whatever they are called)

I would like to see a picture of the J Gilbert version. Anyone?

For some reason they stopped stocking Alden

Leffot does a similar whiskey/black grain saddle, but they put it on a crepe sole, which is not ideal for that model IMO, otherwise I would have picked it up long ago

Great looking boots!!

Just curious ..... Am I the only one who doesn't tie the laces around the ankle of the boot with a boot such as the one pictured? I have no objection to it, I just don't happen to do it.

If you like pebble grain, I recommend the English captoe boots on dainite soles made by a few manufacturers (Crockett and Jones, Alfred Sargent, etc). Something you won't easily get from Alden

Quote:
Should they ever come in, I think that will have my pebble grain boot needs taken care of. I also have an MTO from another shoemaker in the works that will combine pebble and shell. We'll see which I get first.
Appreciate the tip on other makers' pebble grain options, though. I don't really know anything about C&J or AS, so it's good to hear they offer some nice makeups along these lines.

I don't have a cap toe boot but these pebble grain C&Js WT Islays' have a danite sole.

Okay, that's good to know. I guess the price difference stems from the style - eyelets vs hooks? TSM has them in stock now where J Crew has a Feb ship date, maybe that makes the decision right there...
The wait wouldn't be that bad if those are the ones you really want.

After all you will have them for an awful long time.
