I bought a house in Normandy five years ago, and have spent many good times there. Beware, taxes are very expensive there, and with a rapidly-sinking dollar, living there is expensive. I love to eat in their bistros and restaurants, so I don't miss our food (except for Louisiana fried seafood, which nobody can duplicate), and surely don't miss the infernal heat and humidity of New Orleans in the summer. Get a phone, bring a laptop, you'll feel right at home in France. Speak a little French, always make an effort to try, and you'll be accepted very well. Best to you on it!
