There is absolutely no evidence that diet soda is bad for you. Anyone who claims to "know" that is a gullible dupe who probably also "knows" that they are going to get cancer everytime they get a whiff of secondhand smoke.Originally Posted by bryce330

The latest example is acrylamide, a byproduct of preparing french fries and other fried food products.
You may want to look at this article, which discusses a recent study establishing that aspartame is perfectly safe:

As stated in the article, the only danger of drinking Diet Coke is that it might lead you to consume more calories than you would if you were drinking regular Coke.
Based on my interactions with people in the first four pages of this thread it's pretty obvious that a lot of folks posting here aren't too big on the science. Here's a perfect example from one of the earlier pages:
Why should I google actual studies conducted by scientists with actual experiments and conclusions based on actual data when I just know that diet soda is bad for you?Sorry all soda is bad for you diet or not. I'm not going to google studies because it should be common knowledge by now. Sure it's better than regular Coke but still. Going from Coke to Diet Coke is a half-assed attempt that really isn't going to do you any good, like going from Marlboro Reds to Lights.
