I absolutely agree. I've been regretting my shirt choice for the whole day. Wish I had a solid blue OCBD, because I think one of my solid blue non-button downs would have been too formal for this ensemble. I don't think there's even too many patterns, as the jacket is functionally solid, but the shirt is just too bold... the concept of dressing it down was good but I failed miserably!

So, I realize there are 1000 things wrong with the jacket fit (I think I've mentioned elsewhere I recently lost a bunch of weight, and I've even had it altered once), I forgot my collar stays, and the tie color is not accurate in the pic (it's more of a blue/grey heather), but some kind soul stopped me in the street to snap the pic, so it can't be all bad . . . .

Welcome. It is hard to get a good grasp on the cut and fit of the suit due to how close it is and because of the way you are holding the camera. I like the shirt and think the spread collar is a good choice for you, and it is a good size and shape tie knot (though there are Anti-Windsor Nazis here that will attack you out of spite for wearing one...even if your last name is Windsor...I personally think it is a great look)

I have to be honest and tell you that not only does your tie look old and worn, it also looks like you got it at JC Penny or Men's Wearhouse. You could tell me that it was spun by Tom Ford's personal silkworm under his close supervision and I would not care-if you want to up your game, you are going to need better ties than that.

Good luck on your sartorial path...

Black tie event in Miami for Realtors. Should I add a pocket square? I love them but I'm not sure if it calls for it. Sorry again for phone pics.

Thanks for the advice and criticism. Seeing as I'm fairly new to this whole thing, I appreciate the constructive criticism. As for the tie and knot, the tie actually has a bit of sheen to it, however, it can't be seen in the picture. For the knot, I'll try something else, but do you people here have a particular knot they go to? And finally the suit, I just recently purchased it, so I'll have to take some proper pictures to have the experts here dissect it.

Let me be clear-I like the knot, and I would not change it. Just watch out for the Knot-zis.
