I just gave my RW Iron Rangers away to my sister's fiancÃ

e because they fit too big for me, and I am looking at the Katahdin's as a cheaper alternative. I know it's been posted in this thread before, but I'd still like to hear some more confirmation: Do these boots really fit true to size? If I'm a 9.5 in my running shoes, my skateboard shoes (yes I'm a little boy), my dress shoes, hiking boots, etc... will the Katahdin's work in that size too?

Any information on the sizing of these boots VS the Iron Rangers from anyone who owns both would be great too! I don't want to get burned again on sizing, heh.

Another question about them...

It doesn't seem the traction would be very good. Is it possible to get them resoled with some bits of rubber/tread?

I wear a lot of 11 (10.5 in chucks etc etc.) and I went 11 in my Katahdins and I am happy...

Only time I have had traction problems is on ice...ice is slippery.

I've never had a problem with traction. I've had them for over a year and half with non-stop wear through all seasons.

Its gonna take a few days to a full week...but mine felt like butter after two weeks, I like the quality on these more than the quality of the red wing GT's or iron rangers.

anyone have both these and redwing gts? gts in 7.5 are narrow and a tad too long, should i get 7.5 EE in katahdin? i have another pair of chippewa boots with a steel toe for work. they are 7.5 with a little slip room.

The Katadhins are sized pretty similarly to my other chippewa boots so +1 to the "little slip room if TTS"

personally I like my boots snug, but I ordered mine a half size down and they still are a little big.

My katahdin's arrived today, and fit perfectly. I don't have any Obenauf or Sno Seal around, but do have a can of Kiwi Mink oil lying about. Is it okay to use on the boot?
