may i add that jason momoa as conan is definitely a step forward? doyle's conan was often described as an agile, thoughtful warrior and not a total powerhouse. dude is muscular and not skinny for sure, but he also looks like he's fast enough to scale a battlefield.

On this whole racebending thing, I do find it stupid that asian leads can't get a break outside of a computer-generated movie. It is a bit disingenuous to say that "well they aren't technically ASIAN characters" when the inspiration from asian culture and people are clearly there in the animated series. But as it's all fantasy, it's an irritatingly correct statement. People who don't feel this racebending issue is serious shouldn't be caught protesting the move to have Donald Glover be the next spider-man (which would frankly be awesome).

When Avatar came out, my first reaction was "wtf Aang's blue?" now my reaction to airbender is "wtf Aang's white?"

Dear M. Night,

Thank you for ****** one of the bond's I share with my daughter. How the **** could you screw up a movie this bad? It's not your right to add in what you might think is good. I dare to say if I ever see you in real life I will beat you badly. So badly, you will wish you could bend some elements to prevent the ass kicking you deserve. My daughter is 6 and she knew it was wrong to change the names of our beloved main characters let alone destroy something that was almost impossible to **** up, which you did. I do understand there is a lot to fit into the movie but you choose to either edit or leave out key pieces in the movie.
For **** sake man do us all a favor and hang yourself. You make ****** movies and your cameo on entourage a few seasons back was just as lame and thegarbage you just put out. You could have made millions if not billions. Your an idiot and I hope that the people of paramount and Nickolodian black ball you so you can never pollute another child's mind and taint what was once pure. You sir are worse than a ********* offender and should be sent to jail for stealing. You are a thief. A thief of ones money and imagination.

The just comes a point in time where you have to put your foot down. Hollywood is racking it in because the movie watchers won't stand up and say " damn this **** sucks" no more until you correct yourself. Instead they continue to watch Garbage at crazy ticket prices.

Damn...and you WANTED to like it. Definitely won't be seeing this.

Can I pose another question for you? For someone who has NEVER seen the cartoon and doesn't even know one character's name, would they at least sort of like it?

do yourself a favor and watch the cartoon instead. more engaging, funnier, and just a much higher quality. just so i could say i tried to watch it, i downloaded this movie and watched about half before i decided it just wasn't worth it.

^^^ Agreed. Mauro was my one last shining hope that it might just be good enough, or at least decent enough to see. But with that statement, I will surely be skipping the movie, which sucks because I love the original and seemed like Mauro did too.

I guess I'll just try and catch Toy Story 3 then.
