I would like a solid mid grey suit that I can also split up and wear as separates. Any recommendations up to $600? I'm open to used as well.

Just as a warning, wearing the suitcoat as a sportcoat is generally a bad idea. It will always scream "I'm an orphaned suitcoat." Especially at that price point.

For that money you can get an 1818 suit on sale from Brooks Brothers and have change left over to buy pants and a jacket. If you can find one on B&S you can get it for around $300.
FWIW I don't think it is a solid plan to wear your suit as separates. It makes more sense to buy an odd jacket, which can be had very inexpensively. JMO but a patterned odd jacket is more interesting anyway.
I agree. Too often, the solid or pinstripe orphan puts the wearer in a gray area--WTF is that guy doing? Does he think that mid gray orphan is a blazer?
Thanks for the feedback. I was under the impression that if the shoulders don't fit, it's difficult and expensive to have a tailor alter this. Would I be better off just returning it, or is this something a tailor could fix?
Is this outfit good? or what would you improve?
