Who makes every Alden shoe,
Who lets all the errors through,
WE DO! WE DO!

Now you guys have me humming the Stonecutter's Song from the Simpsons.

Result of my trade with Seer (who was a true pleasure to deal with):
Epaulet Natty CXL tankers & RL denim

They look great Joe - if they miss me just tell them the move was for their own good!

Interesting ebay auction here. One of those fun ones with almost zero information on the shoe, but these appear to be the 974 tremont lasted balmoral wingtips? They look like they've only been worn once or twice, and I'm pretty sure they're half a size too small for me (tremont is usually sized up .5 from your barrie/trubalance size, right?).

Where's the missing perf?
-Erik

It may well be my eyesight or the photo but there appears to be a missing perf on the right shoe on the outside about 2/3rds of the way back not quite to where the heel joins the shoe. Top perf.

Yes, they're 974s (look at the Q&A section underneath all the seller info). Great shoe. Love mine.

Tremont is still on the "size down .5" side of the graphic that was posted a few weeks back. I got mine as an 11.5 B/D, whereas I'm normally a 11.5E-12D. So, you'd probably be ok. It's still a long sole.

I have an issue w/ Alden...

Now that I have some, all I want to do is wear them - thus giving them no time to breathe. Wearing any other shoe feels like a step down. And the only cure seems to be purchase more.

Tricker's has grown on me a lot. I thought they looked pretty dumb originally but now I feel like they're exactly what I want in a truly casual shoe. I've been watching their seconds eBay account for a pair of their wingtip boots on dainite sole for a while now.

I actually have a pair of Tricker's Stow Brogue Boot. They are definitely country boots and are less (and you thought it was not possible) sleek than the Alden Barrie Last. The calf leather is significantly better than Alden's calf and Tricker's quality control is much better than Alden's (maybe British Northampton standard is different than other companies).

Saying that I still go Alden for shell cordovan.

Well ****, now I have to hope that someone skyrockets the bid up to an unreasonable level before I end up buying them despite having promised my fiancee I was taking a break from "big" purchases.

Good eyesight! Yep, there it is. Funny, it's only on the right shoe.

So I have decided that I need a Color 8 boot.

I already have Cigar Cap Toe boot on order so I am ruling out that style.

I have narrowed it down the the following two:

Plain Toe:

Wing Tip:

Thoughts???

If you like the plain toe look, J. Gilbert has a really nice color 8 plain toe boot, on the Plaza with commando. A bit sleeker than the plain toe Trubalance boot above.

Can anyone help me identify the model of the Alden boot on the right? Also, somewhere I may be able to still order a pair?
