I just got a pair of shoes in the dark brown chocolate suede. Don't know if anyone else bought a pair in this color from years ago, but I'm disappointed. The nap is really short, and the color is darker than it used to be giving them a cheap look/feel. Either Alden switched suede supplier, or the supplier changed their production technique. I can tell I'm getting old since I've been clamoring for the good old days recently.
Pics?

I saw a pair of Brown Suede Tassels at City Shoes that looked the same way you are describing. Not sure if it was the "Brown Suede" or the "Mocha Kid", but the Suede Tassels I got from BB aren't as dark, and the nap is not as short. Not sure if this is the difference (Brown Suede vs Mocha Kid) that I am noticing, but I think I recall SevenFolds explaining something like this to me.

The thread consensus seems to be that ravello is the king of gunboats. They're certainly great in ravello, but I think my vote might be for cigar.

All told, the ravellos may be the best looking LWBs. Having said that, if I was forced to give one up and keep the other, I think I'd keep my cigars.

I just got the Saphir Cordovan Cream from Kirby, got the dark brown for my cigar jumpers. Gave it a try tonight, that stuff is the bomb, going to get the buy the other colors now. Anyone else using this stuff?

Yes - I use all the colors, including neutral.

And I use Reno.

It tastes good and is pretty healthy. What's the problem? We used to just ship all the meat to Canada and Europe anyway.

Really? So you want people to eat more horse meat so they'll be more shell membranes to make more cordovan shoes? Really?

No just that horse meat is tasty and healthy. I do have to ask are you ok in just killing the Horse for leather goods but when it comes to food it is not right. That makes no sense and seems to a complete waste.

King of the gunboats? Hard to say as I've been wearing my shell LWB's in mismatched pairs. Gives me that extra bit of swagger. That hint of badboy that turns the babes on....

Has anyone worn their Indy Boots for traveling? Can they endure the long, hard road of world travel?
