I tried them on with a pair of medium weight boot socks.
My big toe hits right around where the white stitching curves around the toebox. Does that sound about right? There is def some room but I feel that the 7s will be too tight.

Today I received my brown Chrome Excel Indy's in size 8.5D. Got them from The Shoe Mart website. They fit exactly the same as edubs describes above, but I'm wearing thin dress socks, not medium weight boot socks.

Should I go down to size 8?

That boot is beautiful, and I still hope a virgin! I live that it does not have the speed hooks.

I hate to say it but Whiskey is becoming my least favorite color of Cordovan. I really want a pair of Ravello long wings. I think Ravello ages very nice and is much more versatile.

I still have to give the nod to Cigar and #8 as my faves but Ravello would be a very nice addition.

I wore my Ultimate Indy's yesterday. Fantastic.

I'm with you there. The longwing is just about the only shoe I can look at in whiskey. Others shoes (the indy and esp. the chukka) look plain bad to me in that color.

Cigar is just amazing start to finish. I like #8 after it ages a little and the ravello boots above are stunners.

^ Tell you guys what, next time you see some whiskey, send it this way!

When you buy a pair of Indy boots, you can put shoe trees in them after each wear, regularly apply mink oil or Obenauf's, and give them the occasional polish with neutral cream.

Or do nothing at all. One of our customers picked up these 405's last August. He lives in Upstate New York and hikes in them all the time. No care whatsoever. He put a freaking champion amount of wear on these. They looked awesomely worn in person. Check out the full-size image link.

That's what you're supposed to do with boots. Those look great.

Just wow,

No more maintenance for my original Indies, those are awesome..

Alternatively, you could beat the hell out of your boots AND maintain them. The best of both worlds IMO.
