Academi Relaxed Selvage in Grey

Few questions;

1) Quality wise how are they?
2) Any fit pics? the fit on the model looks very weird but they describe it as straight leg?
3) Any idea on how much I would want to size down for them to be slim/straight? I wear a 34 waist in grim tims and they are a pretty tight/good fit.
4) It says they are "dry grey"; any pictures/ideas how they look post-wash or wear? Would they still retain a pretty noticeable grey colour?:

Thanks,
dave

Edit: Also curious about these: http://www.denimbaronline.com/store/...PARTMENT_ID=38
Rag and Bone R-16-8598 in grey indigo (then it continues to say its dry black denim but anyway).

Similar questions/comparisons welcome... also these jeans are probably going to be worn out clubbing and have to suffer through the worlds scum, so they need to be able to last through all that. Would non-dry denim be a much better option?

I bought a pair of the Ande Whall Grifter Streaky. I don't really want to say it's a problem, as I was fully aware of this when I bought them, but from the knee down is just too big. The jeans are UNsanforized (Not STF), and I'm just wondering what I should do with them. Also note the thigh is a good fit (though could be a little tighter, since they are new and will stretch some) and the waist is also "pretty good", though it could shrink a little and I'd be ok, especially if they stretch. Here is what I'm considering, please give me your opinions: A. Cold soak them B. Hot soak them (and probably pull the waist to prevent tons of shrinkage there) C. Have a tailor taper the leg (but then I risk them being too tight upon washing...) D. Hot or cold soak only from the knee down (will this cause the denim to be visibly lighter from the knee down??) E. Either hot or cold soak, and then wear them afterwards when still somewhat wet X posted on sufu... or will be once I can remember my password

Since when are Ande's jeans unsanforized? I'm pretty sure all his jeans measure out almost exactly what it says on his sheet or so he promises. I don't think your jeans are gonna shrink much except for a half inch to inch in the inseam but even then you can just pull on the legs a bit to maintain the length. Your best bet is getting a tailor to taper them a bit. You're kind of conflicting yourself in your questioning.

What a coincidence, I gave mine their first wash today. I'll try to answer your questions.

-Quality wise I've got to say mediocre at best. The denim itself feels great, the seams stayed straight in the hot wash and dry that I gave them. Unfortunately I lost 2 rivets on the right pocket, and I had given these little wear prewash. Also leather patch on the back is absolutely hideous, so I had to cut it off. The jeans look really clean now though without it or any back pocket detailing.

-Before I washed these the fit was terrible. High rise, loose waist, tight in the butt, couldn't get the denim to relax no matter how much I wore them. After the wash its literally spot on for what I was looking for. Slightly baggy, even with my obsessive gym-goer build, so if you're real skinny like most of this forum seems to be I'd pass on these.

-I wear a 28 in APC NS and got a 30 in the academis. I can't really comment on stretching post first wash yet since I've had them on for 30 minutes at the most, but I can say that mine fit too loosely to stretch much prewash. I can say they feel damn good right now in every place so I hope they don't stretch much.

-Unfortunately there's literally no trace of any gray in mine now. Prewash they were very much gray, although it looked darker than what the model pics online appeared. Now they are almost identical in shade to my 6 month one wash APC NS. They're still losing dye fast though, both my hands are blue as I type this, so they'll probably get lighter pretty fast.

I've heard these can be had for $20 to $40 at urban outfitters stores (I can confirm I got mine for $40 at an UO store) so if these are a first raw selvage denim buy I'd say go for it at that price. Pass on them at full price and just keep your eyes peeled for APCs on ebay or something.

My turn for a question.

How can I get 2 rivets on my academis fixed? And if I don't get them fixed what can I expect to happen?

I'm looking for a pair fo slim jeans. I already have straight legs/slim straight, so I'm looking for something that has a small leg opening. I've looked into RRL, but I don't really want to pay full price, and the slim boot has to low of a rise for my tastes, and the slims don't really show up on ebay. I'd like something raw or O/W, not cost an arm and a leg, with a mid rise and a gradual taper to a small leg opening. Budget is up to $250.

Where can I find a good pair of grey jeans? It can be dry or not, and if not with not much distressing going on. I'm paying up to $200.

I'm looking at this pair from diesel for $180

any comments/suggestions?

size down one for kmw 1950's?
according to context they're true to size but i've been looking at the B&S forums and they seem to run one or two sizes larger than tagged size...
anyone with experience with 1950's would like to help a brother out?

Hey guys new here but i have been looking to get into raw denim for about 2 weeks just afraid to dish out 155 for some APC everyone raves about and i have 501 STF just had em for work which is good but doesnt fit my style at all i guess well sorta just no at the same time.

Well i like a loose fit but not baggy...and i was looking at APC NS which seem like they would fit like that?

I also stumbled upon these
http://www.overstock.com/Clothing/AG...ds=raw%20denim
And at 50 bucks figured its worth asking if they are a good buy...looks like they would be quite baggy though?

Sooo help ha is APC worth 155? Anywhere i can get them cheaper...these will be my only purchase as far as jeans go for a long time so needs to be worth it. And last one i wear 32x32 normally in Levis and thats snug in the waist so what size if i did get apc ns would i need to get?

sheesh that was a mouthfull hope you guys could follow what im asking.

Thanks for the academi reply,

Its actually my second pair of raw denim (nudie grim tims being the first); any reccomendations for a second pair in the 100-180ish price range? Looking for jeans that can fade very nicely and fit similar but a little bit looser to my grim tims.

Also I was looking at APC's; they say to size down on most sites; I'm wearing a sz33 nudie grims (self-edge says thats a 34 waist to start with) and while its comfortable now at first I could only just button them up. With APC's if I size down from the 34 waist the next one is a 32 waist; but there is no way I will fit into this. Reccomendations? And If i go for the 34 will the waist/jean expand resulting in an awkward fit?

Thanks

looking for my first pair of black jeans....I want the fit somewhere around/in between apc rescues/ns's....any advice? Looking to spend from 70-100.00
looking at the Slim Straight 514, anybody have these as i've never worn levi's...i can get those for like 49.00
post #1573 of 21439
511's would probably be your best bet for a NS like fit, whereas 514 would be better for the rescue/looser fit.

Naked and Famous does a black selvage jean for $120; cut is close to what you're after.

for a slim fit jean or regular straight fit jean raw denim,

most of these are meant to be worn snug and fitting, which i do for most of my raw denim, but is it possible to get a raw slim denim at a larger size to wear on a slouchy look?

is this something done commonly or is it a no-no and does not look good?
