Man you guys I never realized how intense shoe care would be. At minimum, would a brush for browns, blacks, and reds plus applicator brushes for all work? Also, would I need a separate brush just for the Bick 4? And then another universal brush for brushing before/after wearing daily?

I have 3 brushes and 3 sets of applicators. I don't use a separate brush for conditioner. You shouldn't really be getting much polish on your brushes as you should be applying very light coats with the applicator.

I use these brushes and like them quite a bit. They are much more dense than Kiwi and most other brands.

Same for everything? I just polished some Walnut shoes for the first time a few days ago... and there is obvious residue on the brush. You would use that on blacks? Man, I sound like a snob

Sizing question on the Strand to any/all takers...

make that

Sizing question in general for all takers....

I notice people say the Stand and others on that last I'd guess is not easy to fit and or non the same as other lasts?'....Strand in 7.5 E on shoebank. ..snip. Any 8 D people might want to consider it."

Why is this ( I know a little I think) this is due to the specific last that is used in each shoes construction so people often have 'issues' the thing is (read on)...

Well I am 'barely' an 8.5 E ... I could do an 8.5 D but one of my feet (right IIRC) is a little wider than a D so I just usually go right to 8.5 E sizes my feet are otherwise ordinary (as far as I know) no arch issues or other abnormalities. I own 1 Strand (walnut) in 8.5 E and it sure seems to fit okay... So here is my question...

Maybe I've been doing this wrong these past 50 years (49 since I didn't walk right off the bat )?
Is my definition of 'fits okay' simply not true and I just never had a 'really well' fitting shoe?

Now the real question when it comes right down to it...

Am I better off NOT knowing how a 'really well' fitting shoe feels? Will I be miserable with my current choices as a result?

in other words is ignorance bliss?

Constructive comments more than welcome!

If you've ever had any sartorial item bespoke it's kind of hard going back to off the rack items. That being said I think it is possible to get a good fit in most shoes provided your foot isn't anything out of the ordinary. I often see people saying you should size up or down in a particular shoe and I'm not sure how great that advice is unless you know the reason why that person sized up or down and your foot matches that reason. A good starting point is having your foot measured properly with the socks you intend to wear, then starting with a shoe that comes closest to that size, and only then sizing up or down based on how that particular last fits your particular foot. It also helps to be able to anticipate how that shoe is going to fit once it's broken in.

I suppose my foot must be pretty ordinary because most shoes fit me true to size. As such I don't have an issue ordering shoes online because I know there's a good chance they will fit. It's not a bad idea to be fit for a particular last inside the store. If you still want to buy from AE's ebay store or shoebank you can always buy a gift certificate from the SA who fit you so they get the commission.

I think I posted it before but I have 1 for each color: black, brown, reds, walnut (so that brown doesn't darken it just in case). I also have 1 for brushing putting on / putting away. I do not use applicators personally. I get giant white t-shirts on amazon cut them up and do it similar to how the shoe snob does it. t-shirts cost much less than applicators. I also get finger condom like things that you put on your finger if it gets cut so it won't get infected if the cream/wax isn't neutral to avoid colored fingers. I don't have 1 brush for bick4/saphir renovateur.
To those that own a pair of the Cornwallis, do you wear the same size as on the 5 last? Think im going to order a pair in brown

So for the 65 I can wear 8.5EE or 9E. On the 1943 last I wear 9E. Not sure if that helps you but maybe haha.

I use the same brush for everythin... but I'm probably in the minority.

This is my set up

Brown - all shades
Red - all shades
Black
Clear - Top coat
Grey - Wife has light grey shoes, so I don't use black
Debris - wiping off dirt and debris

PSA:

There's at least 1 bourbon Strand in 7.5 E on shoebank.  No telling what they look like, but it might worth a shot at $159.  Any 8 D people might want to consider it.

"No telling what they look like"

I've had my eye on a bourbon McAllister's in my size for a bit & last night a pair of bourbon daltons popped up in my size both at the cac for $159. Knowing the issues with bourbon I called to order both hoping one would turn out acceptable & the dalton was already out of the system. But what was I to do.... I forged ahead & ordered the McAllister's but I'm not hopeful. When bourbon is good it's so good!

Thanks and I'm glad to hear this.... I have about 7 AE shoes now and I would really hate to think I 'was doing it wrong'. lol

Also great advice on buying a GC from the shop that helped with a good fitting. AE has always been tops in my book.

I guess this all hits because I lost nearly 100 pounds and as such I literally had to empty my closet (this was just last year).

I was a 'large' .... forever and then entered the x-large late in 2015... Well that was enough and I chose to loose my load and by summer I was at my 'perfect weight for my height'' at 145 lbs. (from a winter high of 230).

So yea I had NOTHING that fit me... so 30+ years of accumulated clothes, shoes, coats etc all got donated... AND my shoes (well I never was into nice shoes when I was large) but the ones I fit was more like a 9.5e .... it was odd that even my feet got 'thin' but yea they did.

Yes my closet is still mostly empty but I am filling it as best as I can and I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right since I'm spending some serious bucks after all of this.

Worth it?!??

HELL YEA. I feel better today than ... I ever have in my adult life. So much energy its crazy!

With the 2017 spring spoilers I know a lot of us were underwhelmed. I've seen posts about bringing back previous models, tweaking current models, or introducing something new like a whole-cut.

We know that AE looks at the comments from time to time so what do we actually want to see come out in the next catalog that would be exciting to us?

I Bick 4 barehanded, directly to the uppers.  Leaves hands buttery soft and you lose less product than if you use a rag or something.  Also helps you feel whether or not you're overapplying.

Brush after dry.

This is the correct answer. Much more efficient.

@DaveGee Great job, man. How did you do it? (If you don't mind me asking)

Does this said "favorite seller" accept returns for wrong sizing? I thought I've seen on here before that he does but not really sure after reading his eBay policy.

I've returned two pairs where they were just not going to work size-wise. You pay shipping both ways, but that's the game we play.

I had a pair one time show up with a terrible crease in the toe area that didn't show from the eBay pics because it had shoe trees in it. Was settled to my satisfaction.

100% feedback for a reason. Great seller.

I have 3 brushes. One for dusting (I brush whatever I'm wearing before I head off each morning), one for darker colored shoes (when doing shoe maint), and one for lighter colored shoes (also only when doing shoe maint).
