I've had this Pearl for less than a week. As of a few hours ago, the trackball only highlights messages/websites (can't choose separate ones); when I scroll down it simply selects them all. Also, when I click "Browser" the screen turns white.

What the ****.

the pearl is pretty cheap and flimsy. I had one and it lasted a few months. You get what you pay for right? It wasn't a very expensive phone.

Hit and miss. I have been through 3 BlackBerries in the past 3 years, and am on the 8800 right now. I have dropped them too many times to mention, on pavement too; abused the trackball mercilessly with Brickbreaker, and just generally beat the **** out of each one of them, and they keep ticking.

Chalk it up to bad luck, return it and get a new one.

Just got the 8700, can't get the tethered modem to work, and now it's downloading 200 random emails from my yahoo account each time I get a new message. Imaging waking up to 1200 new messages and experiencing deja vu 1194 times.

Ironically the 7230 was a champ. Practically indestructible, emails turned up on my blackberry before I saw them on yahoo. Send/receive worked like a charm.

Now I have a pretty color screen, web capability, and 120,000 emails.

You are a college student that can't pay his bills. Why did you buy a BlackBerry in the first place?

The independently wealthy heir with the T. Browne addiction calling out the shopo/alco/cockoholic student on his financial responsibility...

Don't get the BlackBerry unless you think you'll really need it Jason.
I have the LG eNV and I'm happy because it is a bit smaller and can still fold out for a full keyboard for texts/email.

I've been using blackberries for 5 years straight and the only time I had a problem with one is when I dropped it on the pavement in a big puddle of rainwater. It made a big crash sound and soaked in a bit of water - didn't work too well after that...

I don't have any experience with the Pearl version but my 8700c is indestructible

Blackberries are still by far the best option for email communications IMO

Agreed. Now that I have it i'd be lost w/o my pearl. I provide in-home mental health services and otherwise wouldnt have email access during the workday.
