HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part III - Page 1018

The jacket is a touch short, and the buttoning point is on the higher side of things, which makes it look like the waist is much higher than it actually is, and it visually shortens his torso. The advantage is that it makes him look a touch more broadchested, but the downside is that it doesn't really help with his length. Seems a fair trade-off to me, tbh, but I can imagine how other people would think differently.

Edit: I was responding to Gladhands, if it was unclear.

A little summer/spring here, but it's going to be close to 90F today so I thought why not.

I wear almost exclusively 'hard' three button suits and jackets, but even then I have to say that the high buttoning point and your stocky frame do not work well together, and you benefit more from the elongating, slimming effect of longer lapels and a two button suit. I'm 6 foot 1 and about 160 lbs, 38 chest and 30 waist so it might explain the opinion in terms of suit cut and body type.

Still like the suit. Like the shirt/tie/ps combo better than last time. You look like you belong on boardwalk empire-- Minus the terrible collars they wear on that show. Either way, like it as usual

Nice. Wearing a very similar combo today (but with burgundy cords) - and I also skipped the PS. I find it can look too much when you're already wearing a highly patterned jacket.

I'm glad you raised this issue, because I've been feeling similarly but couldn't quite put it into words. It's not that they make him look short. It's almost like they make him look like he's all tensed up, about to squat in order to lift some weights. Might just be that he really is tensed up because a photo's about to be taken... but I don't think that's it. It's something subtle but aggressive/tense about the cut. As long as ian is after that effect, I don't think it's bad, but personally, I don't really like that vibe. It's very "in your face" somehow.

Anyway, a cold Monday. Didn't wear an overcoat, but regretted it when the wind picked up by late-afternoon.
