So Bobby Bowden retires, while not on top admittedly, Sportscenter has a short feature.

Joe Paterno is fired under a quite horrific scandal and not on top, Sportscenter is essentially nothing but a paean to Joe Pa while glossing over the controversy.

Got it.

Truly disturbing wht is happening in State College. I used to think he ran a clean program but there is too much detail coming out that points to serious neglect of a known problem. Paterno may not be as guilty as many others but my subjective view is there was way to much information swirling around about a few of the incidents for him not to know.

Concerning the 2002 incident, Paterno's own words are damaging. Even if the grad assistant really never truly told Paterno the extent of what he saw, Paterno admits he knew of sexual conduct. And the bunch of them did not go to authorties, did not stop his involvement with the camp and continued to let him use PA facilties. The fired President should be brought up on charges if possible.

Good point, albeit disturbing.

I met Joe while walking down the street in State College several years ago. He was walking alone and took time to speak to some young boys who wanted his autograph. He then spoke to me as we approached each other and we had a brief conversation. He was very personable and approachable. I remember the day fondly. However, how he could have ignored the vile behavior of his former assistant, knowing that the guy was disturbed and probably continuing to molest boys is beyond me.

The week Penn State's starting running back was arrested for ****, a fourth-string wide receiver for FSU missed a court date (he had a final exam that a room full of people saw him taking).

Guess which one made the front page of ESPN.com? That whole network is a ******* joke.

He deserves to be crucified, along with everyone else in that line of communication.

Back to sports... Hope everyone gets off the GT bandwagon now. Also, it is funny how earlier in the year, a UGA victory over Tech would have been a good result considering their two positions. Now it just appears that 2011 will be.... well like just about every other year on the Georgia football hierarchy.

THAT SAID... UGA needs to get over its fear and schedule a home-and-home with GSU.

Of the games UGA has left, I'm most concerned about Tech. I'm really worried that, should UGA continue to win and clinch a spot in the SECCG, they could get caught looking ahead to the first weekend in December. That said, I still think UGA will hand it to Tech yet again. Our defense is so good right now that I don't have any trouble believing they could shut down Tech without too much effort.

Also, UGA is playing GSU in Athens next season, but I don't think we'll see the Dawgs down in Statesboro any time soon.

Could Ga State beat Ga Southern?

No.

ETA: It is funny reading the Ga State blog and seeing just how big a chip is on the shoulders of GASou fans. Its kind of lulzy.
