The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Hi guys, looking for some opinions. I'm thinking of swapping out the white-black date wheel for a black-gold wheel. I think it would look nicer than having a flash of white in the middle of the dial, and the numerals of the date and dial would match up more closely. At the moment, I'm really...

    Poor man's watch thread

I've got my grandfather's watch. Looks nice and very much of it's time. Dated it with the serial number and movement to July 1973. I'll get it polished, but I'll also need to get it a new bracelet. Grandfather had obviously put it to good use and wore the bracelet links out. Out of picture...

Criticism welcome because I've now got the itch and have been thinking about how I want to shape my collection re what I can afford. Spent a lot of time thinking about brands I like and the different pieces. Tudor 1926 (owned) Rolex Explorer (GADA) Breitling Premier (not sure in their range...

I'd like to know what Tudor tool watch the coal guy is wearing. It's not a ranger is it? That's probably the real reason he's been made to shovel coal.

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I think that's a fair point in general but perhaps a little unkind to the OP's reasoning. Afterall, they did say: I think everyone can say they get caught up in something or a train of thought, and it takes something else to make them go 'Hold on a minute, what am I thinking?" - and that's...

Shoe trees : are they really needed?

Eh, if anyone says they're essential that can't be true. My grandmother was so poor that when growing up a single pair of shoes were passed from child to child as they all grew up. They didn't have shoe trees, and the shoe didn't fall apart. And it wasn't a high-end shoe - made for the working...

Hey, so this is a bit delayed (because frankly I'm embarrassed posting a Tudor alongside Patek Philippes) but having first broached the topic quite a number of months ago I picked up my watch last month. I want to express some thanks to the members here who guided me to develop my own taste in...

In the interest of discussing statistics not politics... I'm sure there's a few finance bros here who'll back me up and say with numbers so low, a swing of a few thousand can create a large percentage increase. Since populations typically live in cities, national figures for crime are typically...

I don't agree with that in respect of what it says about NFTs. I think it's self-admittedly a shallow understanding of how NFTs work and there's some assumptions at play in looking at a very limited technology. I'm not advocating for web3, but I think luxury items is a place where NFTs can work...

I think it's about time they were all coming with NFTs for complete traceability, because it'd be so easy to buy a stolen one too. And all issued serial numbers back-ported to an NFT as well. Breitling has started doing this.

Apologies I dropped off from the forums. There is no particular reason, a regular waych could be used but a few things came to my mind. Its easier than using your phone with gloves on than your phone for timing certain things. Horse's heartbeat or breathing after giving birth, training, etc...
