I'm looking for siziing advice on LVC 1947s. For STF 501s, I wear a size 30. For APC new cures, I have a pair of 30s, but they're far too big, after stretching out. Also I've got a pair of Ande Whall grifters tagged sized 30. They're pretty tight, so much so that I think a 31 would've been pefrect, but I like the tight fit as it promotes a tighter fit. At this point I'm looking at a pair of 30 1947s. Would it be viable to size down one size (29s) for a slimmmer fight? Assuming I could stretch the waist out with a vice or wood-blocks or some such. I'm mostly concerned with how the legs will fit. I can coerce the waist into being okay, but I desire a slimmer fit like the bikers of the '40s or so had, or so I've heard of.

Anyone with any good advice, or should I continue to pursuee non-levi's for the precise fit that I'm looking for?

Also in retrospect I probably should have posted this in the jeans question megathread, but too late!

The James will be slimmer. Not sure what the due date on them is but that's what I'm waiting for.

Well, if you want a 29 you'll probably want a 31 since they might shrink down 2 inches. Then again, I've heard that even after they shrink they will stretch back out an inch, so maybe 30 (shrink down to 28, stretch back out to 29).

You know you can probably try on the 47's in almost any levis store. They are definitely the most accessible LVC in that regard, as opposed to the 55's or 37's/33's which I've yet to find a place to try on.

Jcrew has a Classic Fit chino that's cut slim. I'm not sure how they compare to Crate in terms of construction, but the fit is spot on. For the price, they are worth at least taking a look at.

My J. Crew classic fit chinos were still pretty baggy. My RRLs are slimmer than the J. Crews were but still baggier than I'd like. I've yet to find the all around perfect pair of chinos but if I do I'd probably buy it on the spot.

What is the sizing of Paul Smiths compared to Allen-Edmonds? I'm a 9.5D in AE's, 9 in Chucks, 10 in New Balances. I'm really afraid to drop the cash for Paul Smiths without trying them on. Especially since I wear orthotics, which tend to make a lot of shoes fit weird (I sometimes have to size up).

In my experience PS shoes should be sized down 1/2. So if you wear a 9.5D US in AE, get a 9 US (or 8 UK). The Triumphs are the only PS shoes I've seen that run true to size.

Could anyone from Toronto recommend me a reliable place to get shirts and clothes tailored? Uptown in the Markham / Richmond Hill area preferrably. My friend's shirt got ruined by a tailor once, causing me to go all paranoid.

What's with the True Religion logo? Is True Religion a special Buddhist thing or is it for everyone?

Not a question, more of a statement. The thighs on these Diors are tight as f*ck. I hope they stretch a bit.

Went down 1. The waist isn't an issue though. Anyway, I figure the waist will stretch and the jeans will fall lower and that will give me a little more thigh room. You're supposed to sag Diors a bit anyway right?
