Those have got to be the best boots I've ever seen. At that price everyone on the forum should get a pair.

Couldn't argue against this more. Looks like you're going on a camping trip. Just carry a zip-up hoody with you. Besides the fact that it's about as out of place and "unfashionable" and un-stylish as possible before you switch to plastic bags, I'd be concerned you were carrying around weaponry (seriously)

Agreed. This bag looks like you're about to be shipped off to war, not go to class.

Bought these in brown, do they look good? What kind of pants / clothing could I wear them with? These are my first shoes of this kind and I'm very confused, they don't really look good with regular jeans, maybe jeans with a tigher calf portion? Maybe khaki cotton pants, greenish wool coat, white shirt with a vest?

So when people measure "pit to pit" what exactly are the points they measure from? Is it just chest circumference divided by 2? ie do you just stretch the piece out so that there's no overlapping around the pits so you can measure chest circumference divided by 2... or something else?

That's tough. I would say something classic like workwear to balance the show out. The shoe is not my style, but I think some well fitting khakis and a semi loose wrinkled linen short (white or something light) might work.

Exactly what is hip flare and more importantly, how does one avoid it?

Again, photos would help. Thanks very much!

Hip flare is when your jeans have a curvy, hourglass look around the hips (i.e., bulging out at the sides below the waist and above the thigh). Not good on men. To try to minimize this, wear your jeans fairly low on your hips and buy jeans that are fairly tight in the top block. Avoiding a cut that tapers massively toward the knee (through the thigh, that is) is also a good idea. Some men just have wider hips, though, and will never completely eliminate a slightly "hippy" look, unless they wear such baggy clothes that there is no shape to their body at all. I have pretty wide hips compared to my waist, so even with my best efforts to eliminate hip flare with the tips above, I've accepted the fact that tucked-in shirts rarely look good on me with jeans. Wearing shirts that hit around the front pockets on your jeans should help hide any visible "flare" at your hips, as long as the shirts aren't severely tapered at your waist! Oh, and finally, poor posture can contribute to hip flare. I have found that keeping my hips pulled back minimizes hip flare, and has the added benefit of maximizing height

Err... one more finally-finally: Widening one's shoulders, chest, and back through weightlifting can also provide a visual counterbalance to wider hips.
