Ascots, as a general rule, are brutal.

He looks super, except for the shirt collar. That shirt looks to me like a top of a silk pajama.

While I do not suggest you wear this in any squaresville business environment, I think it looks very good. Some observers may feel that the collar might be a little wild... Assuming that really is an ascot, personally, I would swap that out in favor of a neckerchief to make the level of formality a bit more consistent. The bracelet plus watch on the same wrist pushes against Roetzel a little but you could move it to the other side -- ot not....

No to the whole outfit, too contrived altogether. YES to pocket squares, especially white linen in a TV fold.

Another version of a similar theme. It's probably unusual enough to be taken as a strange new trend in street fashion. You'd obviously wouldn't be wearing it in a professional environment and it'd slot in perfectly at a suitably debauched dinner party.

In regards to the first photo, I like the structured shoulders. I don't buy into this soft-shouldered nonsense.

Certainly leave it up to the Japanese to rehash an esoteric fashion for men.

I think this is something of a Playboy look--what a swinging bachelor in the '60s and '70s would have worn to entertain at home with zebra skin rugs and Danish teak furniture strewn about whilst women with severe eyeliner in Courreges dresses smoke and look flirty. The air would be impregnated with a mixture of Caron's Yatagan and hash.

Those shoulders are rather the business.

For my otherwise more dark and black outfits, I have a gold bracelet that I wear. It is an old yellow gold bracelet that I wear on the same wrist as my gold watch, which incidentally has a gold face, hands and applied numbers. If I wear a pocket watch, I also wear the bracelet. I think it brings a little flash of color to a slightly bleak ensemble. It sounds gaudy, but it's actually quite tasteful.

No, I actually found the picture after that outfit. As you'll note, my outfit uses a turtleneck as opposed to a silk scarf--which I do also own. That jacket needs to have its waist taken in more.

A lot of guys here are slamming ascots. I always thought that the photos of Alan Flusser wearing a sweater, a collared shirt and a little bit of what appears to be a knotted scarf looked very cool. It isn't anywhere as big or as showy as an ascot, but you get added color and detail. It also has a very stylish, relaxed look, perfect with a suede jacket or casual blazer. There were numerous fashion mistakes in the 70's with huge knotted scarfs for men, and that may have killed any demand for a few decades. Perhaps it is time to bring them back.
