As far as lifestyle changes, I could say that my biggest was getting engaged 10 years ago and moving in with my wife who lived in another city at the same time as I quit my job and returned to graduate school. I also virtually gave up smoking (both cigarettes and pot) .

That said, all the most radical changes you can make in your life pale in comparison to how having children changes your lifestyle - in a good way for the most part. Feeling responsible for these small and vulnerable humans you created is the most life-altering change I have ever experienced.

As of two days ago, I started a diet. No more fried foods, no more greasy burgers/Philly cheese steaks, less brownies and desserts and more focus on vegetables and fruits. This semester, I've also fallen into the trap of eating everything in sight that looked yummy. So, I'm employing portion control. I was in a bad mood tonight so I kind of cheated and got a big slice of pizza and a sandwich, but I'm really determined to make this work.

Disclaimer: I'm not obese; barely overweight, I guess. But the few pounds that I've gained have all gone straight to my gut, and it's just not the relatively flat stomach that I'm used to.

Tell the truth. Your boyfriend complained about the cleanliness of your colon, didn't he?

Bikram Choudhury and his yoga changed my life forever. It took me a while to understand , but the heat and the challenging postures made me stronger inside out. Now, I move on with my everyday life feeling in control, calm and at peace. I haven't been sick for the last 11 years since I've been practicing Bikram Yoga and I look younger:)

I can't tell if you are mocking Bikram yoga or not.

lots of great things in this thread. for me, getting married was a huge improvement. i'm no longer spending 99% of my time dealing with girls. i can focus all that wasted time and effort into having a meaningful relationship and improving myself. sounds stupid and "unmanly" but i'm being honest here. not to say that all those wild years of bachelorhood were completely wasted. i learned a lot about communication, confidence and psychology in my experiences with women. another big improvement in my life was discovering a couple online communities (superfuture and styleforum). i've made some online friends that have become real-life friends. i've learned a lot from you guys and i continue learning everyday.

one more thing that has greatly improved my life is taking control of my finances. an older coworker of mine took me under his wing and played the part of "rich dad." he showed me what i need to do to get out of debt and to get ahead financially. for that, i'm forever grateful. btw, deacon, thanks!

With so many people in this thread, myself included, listing taking control of their financial life as an important milestone in their lives, does that not say something? I am not sure how it should be addressed for young adults, but it sure does seem to indicate society and the educational system are not adequately preparing people to be smart about their finances.
