I work in the mineral exploration field in Canada so I work in remote locations for 4 to 6 weeks at a time. After that, I get anywhere from three weeks to four months off work. From the north, flying to Vancouver took me 1.5 days and flying to Colombia takes 2 full days. I can manage the extra half day of travel to live here. Now I just need to buy an apartment in Bogota and a small house on the Caribbean coast and Ill be set.

You're a lucky guy. I'll be in peru in december and I fully expect i'll fall in love with life down there. And as soon as i've got enough money, i've always said that i'd love to retire there. It will be a while so for now i'll just have to visit.
