Gentlemen,

Some nice efforts, but nothing I would really deem to be "trad". Below is an effort of mine - and there are plenty more where this came from if the competition heats up
bounce2.gif

Details:

Brooks GF sack blazer (undarted, 3/2 roll)
BB grey worsted pants, 1.75 inch cuff, minimal break
RL blue oxford shirt (better than BB, despite the logo, but who sees that if the jacket always stays on...)
J Press tie and pocketsquare
RL belt and buckle
Alden tassels in color 8 shell cordovan
J Crew argyle socks
Oris automatic, croc band

As judge, can I insist that the ensembles have to be worn for an entrant to qualify?

Perhaps, but I can't say it is "trad" to take ones own picture!

You can't get more tradly than this:

Hardwick RED natural shoulders 3 buttons rolled to 2 narrow lapel undarted sack blazer with quarter inch side stitchong, central single HOOK vent, patch and flap for side pockets, and patch breast pocket, PAISLEY lining.

Bill's khakis, flat front and CUFFED, on seam pockets, coin pockets, sturdy fabric
Brooks Brothers MUST-IRON oxford button down in blue university stripes, beefy
Rugby ralph lauren 3.25 inch wide patch madras tie
Leatherman belt with 5 detailed ducks on green backgroud
Weejun pennyloafers with pennis!
NO SOCKS
Plaid cap
On a grassy field, with girls, and there is bourbon in that cup.

tell me how you can get more trad than this.

- your prep school or Ivy League tie - some article referencing your yacht/country club - Buttons on the jacket having some similar significance - bourbon is irrelevant because a) you're not holding it; b) Northern Ivy League trad counts just as much in this contest as Southern trad, so you don't get points for bourbon. If you are playing croquet or Polo on that grassy field, then we can talk

Definitely an early favorite!

You forgot to mention the little brass buttons.

Good points.

Ivy league tie for a horse race is just too "i am better than you".

Here are some ways to tradify my original outfit even more:

1: substitute the original brass buttons for the ben silver buttons from my school
2: add a blazer badge onto that patch breast pocket
3. gin and tonic instead of bourbon.

This is already getting good! Looking forward to your entry, zjpj.

I think untilted should get some points for that pic being "in the wild."

But Manton/Kent, is the criteria quantity (most trad items in an ensemble), quality (most extremely trad items), or a combination (best ensemble featuring trad items). Is this like Iron Chef, where there are separate categories, but the point is who best articulates the character of the trad?

- very tradly outfit, well done! And I agree, the "in the wild" pic gets points.

Can I insist on a minimum post count before you entry is considered so as to prevent people from other message boards signing up solely for the purpose of taking advantage of this contest?

Seconded, to prevent an influx of AAAT guys

Secondly, as I understand it, trad does not equal preppy. To what version are we subscribing to? Also, do we want casual or more formal dress? More guidelines needed!
