With all the incest they engage in, you could say it runs in the family.

I'd smash the hell out of Cersei though. I loves me some Lena.

Haha same here, but I figured as much. So if I read the first book during the off-season, would I learn much more after watching season 1? I really not into reading ahead (reading book 2 before or mostly alongside season 2)

He'd been doing episode reviews since the start.

Hmmm, I not sure if I want to spoil future seasons by reading the books - along with the likes of Breaking Bad and Mad Men, this is one of the best tv series around.

I'm not so much disappointed as I'm underwhelmed. What sucked was the Internet was all "WHAT A TWIST?!"/"Nooooo!" which in a way, I felt cheapened the entire thing. Not depicting the battles was somewhat lame too but not a deal-breaker (I actually liked how they handled it). The Dothraki storyline in this episode dragged things down a little.

The lack of battle scenes was what disappointed me. The show robbed poor Tyrion of glory, in the book *gasp, I mentioned it!*, he did a great job with his hill raiders. Wonder if the finale will be 2 hours, they still have lots of ground to cover with Jon and Dothraki.

The Dothraki storyline may have dragged on this one, but it's setting up for a kickass finale.

I actually really enjoyed episode 9 -- I think it's my favorite episode in some time.

The plot moves along at a serious clip, yet very little of it felt rushed. I would have liked to see Tyrion's battle scene, as it does get covered in the book and it's pretty awesome, but I understand that this isn't Rome and if fewer battle scenes means the show doesn't get canceled then I can wait for them to pull one out next season.

There was some good character development/exposition that didn't feel forced or ill-staged (i.e. Petyr and the whores), and there were some powerful and dramatically important scenes.

All in all, I felt like the episode managed to convey a sense of escalation that very much mirrors what takes place in the books -- really, the first book is a pretty mild affair until the very end. Clash of Kings is where **** starts to really go off the rails.
