Very nice Greg - among all the great pics that show up on this thread you and Threadbarer and the late lamented TC Houston probably have the style closest to that which I would like to emulate. Slim cut classic. I am on the hunt for a summer weight POW, and while I am slowly coming around to the possibility of breaking my prejudice against tan shoes. No the antiquing is out of the box - Barker call it 'Dark Shadow'. I love the antiquing and for the price they're very nice shoes, but be warned, although construction is good and leather quality isbasically fine, they're a pretty light weight shoe - neither sole or upper is that thick, and whilst I've had no issues with robustness so far I don't expect them to last as long as some of my other English shoes (including other Barkers).

Cheers MoK, as an ageing mod almost all my suits and SCs are hard threes and I almost always fasten the top two. From now on I will follow your advice!
I think unless there is a decent hint of a roll buttoning the top is the way to go
