Was just about to purchase the Carmina shoes. I click on the flip down menu and there's no size 12—someone must have bought the final pair within the last half hour.

Lesson learnt. There are many lurkers around, almost 2000 have viewed this thread then a clown like Bigbris comes along and post a glowing review, you'd expect some people to act on it.

There was one other guy who posted an active link to an ebay item asking if it was a good deal and ended up having to pay much more from other bidders who became aware of the sale. In truth, you'd already known what you wanted and if you had acted on it without posting here, the shoes would have been yours.

^ Bris gave quite an endorsement of Carmina over EG. I am shocked, actually. I gotta find out for myself!

Let's be clear: I love my EG shoes and EG is the standard for me as far as shoes go but with the quality/price of Carmina you'd have to be stupid not to bite. I wore my Carminas again today. Lovin' them.

When we ordered our Carminas, we ordered quite a few pairs with the leathers from Ilcea (http://www.ilceaspa.it/index_eng.html) They are definitely one of the better tanneries around... Also got to meet some of the guys at Ilcea at one of the leather tradeshows. Great products and nice people!

Edit: Payment has been sent and the lead time to the UK is usually within ten days. I'll post pictures when I get them.

Thanks for all the help.

I originally wanted the EG Walcott and also a burgundy shoe, then it dawned on me. Carmina has an adelaide in burgundy. I went online to buy it before I posted here earlier and 12 was gone

How much was the declared value of the shoes?

I think it requires a fair bit of paperwork if you want to get your money back but not impossible, i dun think. Chances if they don't fit, you could speak to Armoury about returning and getting another size, while keeping your local custom and the courier informed so you do not need to pay anything on the next shipment.

It's a real shame, but I'm sure you are already prepared as I have warned you earlier regarding the duties. It just baffles me how an EU made product gets exported to Asia and is re-imported back to Europe again.

aj_del, Just curious - is it true the 358 is simply a handgrade version of the 348 - i.e. identically shaped, just made better? I've seen both IRL, but never together, and while they looked really similar, I couldn't say for sure.
