what are some good sub $20 bordeaux? i've had fronsac and pontensac. they were pretty good, but not sub $20Originally Posted by indesertum
Gone are the days when all my wine friends were buying three cases of sociando mallet for $16 vintage to vintage. My rule of thumb for inexpensive bordeaux is to buy in great years as a rising tide lifts all boats. Of recent vintages, look for 2003, 2005 and 2009 futures. - lanessan is often described as an insider's wine, dependably good and will age for 5-10 years, In any sort of decent year it's a case purchase on futures for us - puygeraud is the next lannessan, not as widely known, but a great buy, also a case purchase - senejac is correctly made, good food wine - cap de faugeres is slick, new style bordeaux but it's hard to argue with the quality, still around $20 on futures. - the 2005 reignac can still be found for $18 these wines should be widely available or can be ordered on the web.
