Here's a quick fit pic. I'm wearing a t-shirt underneath. With only the t-shirt a 36 would have probably worked, but winters here get pretty damn cold. Layering ftw.

All your measurements matches mine except I have a 37" chest.. I ordered a 36S so we'll see how that fits.

Okay so I just bought a pea coat the other day and I wanted some other peoples opinions. Here in Europe they only offered a small, medium, or large - no numbered sizes. I ended up buying a medium. The small was kind of tight in the shoulders, and keeping in mind that this will be my winter coat in a nordic country, I will definitely be layering up a bit.

What I am wondering is...

• When I have my hands to my side does it look too wide? I think it does, but I sometimes have a skewed view of what things ought to look like.
  
• Is there too much flair at the bottom of the coat when I have my hands in the pockets?
  
• Are the sleeves too long?
  
• Would moving the buttons in an inch or so to tighten it possibly remedy the wide bottom?

It seems to me like it looks somewhat close to what it should when I have my hands in the pocket, with the exception of the sharp flair. Overall I think the shoulders fit comfortably. Unfortunately returns don't work here as they do in the US, so the best I can do is have it tailored (taken in, etc.)

I appreciate any help, and if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Looks too big

Comrade, the fit is fine. Sleeves are good too. You can't go skin tight if you plan on layering.

Agreed. Why buy something that's 'military inspired' when you can have the real thing that's probably much cheaper?!?

Winter's just around the corner and I'm kinda getting bored of my north face parka (keep in mind in still in school) so I was wondering is there any peacoats out there I can wear during the cold winter in Canada without having to layer much?

Yeah, everything else seems to look good.

Mine is my dad's Navy pea coat from the early 60's. He had it tapered and it's the best looking, warmest pea coat I have seen, it looks amazing. Corduroy lined pockets....so great. This fall I was looking for a new peacoat. Schott was first on my list but I eventually tried on a number of coats. The most notable variable is fit followed by material. I finally fell in love with a D&G, tripple stitched virgin wool coat. It felt like I had just put on the batsuit when I tried it on for the first time. link

Hello everyone, first time poster

Okay, so here's another "please help me choose a Sterlingwear coat size" post..

I've read through this entire thread but I still don't feel too sure what size to order.
I've recently lost some weight and consequently am making a few changes to my wardrobe. I'm just getting into "fashion, as opposed to just wearing whatever I find in my closet.
I've wanted a peacoat for a long time, and I understand Sterlingwear is what most people around here recommend. I really like the simple style of them - I'm not too fond of belts, epaulettes and stuff like that. I also like the classic look with only the two slash pockets.
I think I'm going for the navigator, as I like the 6 button look.

I want a slim fit, maybe just a little room for layering, but I don't want it to look too boxy. I guess as slim as possible without getting to restrictive. I don't want it to be too long either, I'm thinking just below the butt would be ok..? I think mid thigh would be too long, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts on that?

I really love the look and fit on these pics, but alas, J.Crew doesn't ship to Norway But I guess I'd be going for something along those lines.

I'm sorry to bring the same old question up again, but I'm not used to coat sizes liked these, as I've never worn classic coats before, and I don't know my coat size. I really want to be as sure as possible that I'll get a good fit, since shipping to Norway costs a fair bit.

Here's some measurements i just did:

5'10'' and about 158lbs
38'' chest (measured around my chest at the armpits, over the highest part of my chest and shoulder blades)
31'' waist (measured at the narrowest part of my waist)
I wear 32'' jeans.

I'd be really grateful for any info. I suppose i could always bring the coat to a local tailor, but I'd really like to get it as close as possible from the shop.
