I mostly agree with what you're saying, but not everyone wants to spend two hours a day at the gym or eat healthy food all the time. Everyone has a happy medium when it comes to discipline vs. indulgence, I think.

i totally agree majority of the people should be in the middle
but if one is already FAT then we know what that was caused by.
it was caused by laziness and carelessness...
its like if you were lazy left your yard uncared for, for 6 months.. it'll be a jungle. yes, you were lazy but so you need to get off your lazy ass and put in EXTRA work to make it presentable again.
same with losing fat. if one is already fat, then that person has to work a lot harder, diet a lot harder than a normal healthy person.

Well tailored clothing means just that, tailors to your Body. So if your body is large, short, one leg is significantly longer than the other. Tailor clothes will outline just that. For people who need an illusion to make them look skinnier or taller, or wider necks and broader shoulders, that is where colours, patterns, thickness, widths and extra padding come in.

michoel schnitzler Exhibit A- compensation for unshapely fat in tailored clothes .316%

Yeah there's no way he lost "10 lbs of garbage weight" in 2 weeks. More like a bunch of water weight and some muscle(to go along with the fat).

for dinner its usually home cooked pasta or rice + chicken/fish/seafood/beef/tofu

between meals, i eat the organic whole grain/trail mix snack bars.
no soda, i just drink seltzer water, tea or regular purified water.

its not as difficult as it seems. basically an athlete's diet.

i do not eat out. whenever you eat out, they cook food with BUTTER which is HIGH on fat and caloric content.
if you cook at home, you can use olive oil as a substitute for butter and it cuts fat and calories by a lot.
also, no snacks, no ice cream, no soda, no beer, no alcohol, NOTHING.

its one of the choices you have to make in life.
do you want to be fit, have 6 pack, have an athletes body that people desire?
or do you want to have the deliciousness of food.

i tell myself everyday many times through out the day - "DO YOU WANT TO LOOK LIKE RONALDO?"
when people say come out drink with us, i get water and volunteer to be the driver.
when people say come out eat with us, i say come to my place, i will cook you a meal better than you can get anywhere else. (my mother was a highly rated regional hotel chef so i learned a lot from her)

i am only 2 years into being fit.
i turned myself from a stick figure to what i am and i am trying to get to below 10% body fat by the end of the year and have ronaldo-esque 6 pack showing by next year.

You don't find all this just a little dull?

Depends on what you like to eat. Some of us think brocolli is a treat -)

OTOH if his goal is only less then 10% you don't need to go to those extremes.

I'm around 10% and in my mid 40s. I don't go to those extremes. I even cook with butter. BTW the idea that olive oil is low cal is strange. It's got health benefits but it's still fat. If I was in my 20s 10% would not be a challenge.

It doesn't take a lot of self control. Portion control. Work out a little. Stay off the prepackaged crap.

Agreed, I love food, wine and having a good lifestyle way too much to have that kind of a diet. In fact I am on my second glass of wine while I cook a nice chicken korma for dinner.

But I see where he is coming from, at his age I was similar to that and have a competitive cycling/triathlon and running background where diet is extremely important.

Now I still run 2-3 times a week, ride once and hit the gym 2-3 times and eat whatever I like and have a much better life balance at 30 than I did back then. Eventually you realise life is passing you by and giving up all the good things in it just isn't worth it for a 6 pack, which I still have (it just might not be as good as ronaldo's)

But I agree, being in good or reasonable shape makes it much better to look nice in a suit. Extremely fat or muscly guys on the other hand, generally look awful in them.

I lost a lot of weight, kept it off and gained muscle by buying a Concept2 rowing machine and worked up to rowing an average of 10K meters in 45' every day. I gave up trying to go too much faster because the practice regime I needed to do that was too strict.

I did some other things, like only eat apples and drink water during the day. Eat healthy and light at night - a little meat, some cooked vegis or a vegi salad, some carbs, water, some fruit. I don't count calories.

I also binge a few times a month on ice cream, chips, and pancakes,....

Now, I am harder to fit into suit than ever before.

that is all perspective...
if you have excitement everyday, then similar level of excitement feels just merely ordinary
if you have excitement once in a while, that excitement feels of a lot more significance

I actually think fairly obese people in impressive clothing can look rather imposing - even intimidating.

In some situations it might be better to be fat and well-dressed than fit and well-dressed. If you are attractive and well-dressed it can be a bit too much, overwhelming and give the impression of dandyishness or flightiness. On the other hand, the fat, suited man seems ready to make a serious move - he seems like he means business. Obviously, there are limits to this in terms of fatness.

A fat well-dressed guy seems like he might own a diamond mind, whereas a fit, well-dressed guy seems foppish.

I supposed the days of the bloated plutocrat are over though...rich people are fit (and generally badly dressed), these days.
