Actually, as we know, the Intro is a written exam. The Certified Somm is no class. You show up for three exams. A short theory, demonstrate service of the examiner's choice, and then do a deductive tasting of one red and one white. So all together, four exams, although three get done in one day.

I'd actually say that it is one exam consisting of three parts, all of which must be passed independently of the others. But I'm not here to argue.

but StyleForvm is full of teh crazies. You should have seen the look the table next to us gave at lunch today when Manton and Foo debated the virtue of getting shoes re-soled with a different last than originally made for the pair.

Of Course, Don QuiBROte.
You should just set your test up in Traverse City too. Quick jet back to Canada for you, and it would be epic if we could pass each other answers.

That would be epic. Happy with where I'm taking it though. Very notable cellar.

the issue was is it overkill. Manton said that if it's in the process of getting a pair re-soled, then no, it's not overkill since they will have to use a last anyways and simply using a different last than the original is no big deal. Foo agreed but maintained that getting the double sole was not the best of ideas and asked Manton if it was possible to remove the wax coating (he apparently requested this at the last service, but the service representative did not heed his request). I do not recall a resolution to this. However, OneShoe might be reaching a limitation, as I heard for the first time today. I'm sure that saga will develop and continue into a 450 poast thread.

Does anyone know a free piece of software to make flash cards? I memorize well off them and want to start making some for the course. If I can't locate some freeware for that, I'll start doing them by hand this weekend (no ****).

Thanks for the link Pio, http://www.mnemosyne-proj.org/ Pretty good tool that allows you to rate how well you know the information on that particular card. Ratings are on a 1 to 5 scale. If you know the card very well rate it a 5 and it will appear less than cards that you have rated a 1 or 2.

Great link! From the top of my head I can get maybe half to three quarters of the questions from the "certified" exam questions #1 and questions #2 without seeing the muiltiple choice options. The rest can be really tricky and go into great detail, but this is a great reference!

Does anybody know what % you need to get right for the certified level? 90% could be tough, but this looks like a fun exam.
